Hey Everyone. I just found a rather odd adventure game from KB Toys. It's called Uncle Albert's Mysterious Island. Does anyone know what this is like? It looked to be a decent adventure game, albeit towards the younger audience, but nonetheless, another adventure game. =) I'd greatly appreciate any info. Thanx! =)

There's a review by Bryansmom of another game in this series -- Uncle Albert's Magical Album. It should give you a flavor for the series.

I think Magical Album was a little different from the other 2. Album was geared more toward the younger set while the other 2 can be somewhat challenging even for some of us more "mature" adventurers. happy trails, Carolyn

Just a note--back in 2002 when I wrote that review, I didn't understand a lot about Windows XP. So, when I say that Magical Album wouldn't work for me in XP, that doesn't mean that it won't work for you! I haven't given it a try now that I know about compatibility features and audio and video acceleration, so it is possible that it works in XP and I just don't know it. I recently found Uncle Albert's Fabulous Voyage and bought it immediately, and I've got it hoarded away in my "to play" pile (notice I didn't say my SON'S "to play" pile)! I love all of the games from this maker. I recently played Alice in Wonderland by Emme, and I was reminded again of the Uncle Albert games; however, I found Uncle Albert to be more difficult than the Alice game. They are similar in nature, though, with live acting and a lot of fun exploration. Have fun playing your Uncle Albert game, rain2!!

I sure will. =) And yes, there are some problems in getting the game to work properly, but I've got it all solved. I made it run in Win95 compatibility, installed the Quicktime that came with it, and ran the game from the EXE file, not the shortcut; then it all works out fine. =) I had to ignore the "can't find sound card" and had to work around the "CD not in CD-ROM" from the shortcut. =P Took a bit, but it's all good now. =)
Oh yeah....don't run it in high resolution....it's so small, I couldn't see a thing! lol, so I had to run it 640 x 480. =P That was much better. =)
