That's a good question Jenny. Most of the games I've played usually contain battling dragons. The exceptions to that were Divinity 2 where you gain the ability to be a dragon for certain portions of the game and Skyrim. In the latter you get the ability to call and "tame" dragons using a shout learned in the Dragonborn expansion. Doing a quick search, it looks like many of the suggested ones are older console games. Hopefully, we'll dig up some others.

You'd think there would be more games that featured riding a dragon considering how fun it is.
I know about Panzer Dragoon, where you ride a "dragon-like" creature. But those graphics are a bit much -- especially on a big LCD monitor.
And I know there are parts of the Drakengard games where you can ride a dragon, but those are for Playstation, not PC.
As you said, Trail, most games seem to be about fighting dragons, not flying with them.
I didn't know you could turn into a dragon in Divinity 2. It sounds similar to Divinity: Dragon Commander where you can turn into a dragon. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but it looks like flying as a dragon may be as close as I can get to what I'm looking for.

I should clarify, it's Divinity II the Developer's cut, not Divinity II: Original Sin. It's part of the Dragon Knight Saga and contains the expansions Ego Draconis and Flames of Vengeance. Here's the link at GOG Divinity II: Developer's Cut Flying as a dragon takes a little getting used to, but I found the game quite entertaining.

Twinsun flies around on a dragon, at least in the second game. It was one of my earliest forays into pc gaming, and in a strange way got me into adventure games (as opposed to dark side stuff). Its on GoG I think.
Quantity has a quality all of its own

I know Dragon Riders: Chronicles of Pern involves riding dragons. I'm pretty sure your character only rode the dragon in cut scenes, and you never had control over flying the dragon yourself. Am I misremembering? It's been a long time since I played that game.

I think Twon Ha translates as dragon in Talan I missed out when I played Outcast -- I thought I wasn't supposed to ride the Twon Ha because the Talan that sold him to me said so. I didn't realize until halfway through the rest of the game that the seller was full of it.

Jenny, I just loved riding/flying around on the back of Rynn's dragon too. It is the only game where I actually went a bought a joystick to use when dragon riding. The stick made it really feel more like navigating and soaring. It also made fighting easier once I got use to pushing buttons on it. When I would switch back to Rynn I would go back to using mouse and keyboard. My Twon Ha  I would ride it absolutely everywhere I went once I was able to. Just loved, loved, loved it. It made getting around so much quicker and fun. I mapped out the whole world on paper cuz kept getting lost otherwise, and did every single side quest there was, so Twon Ha was greatly used.

I bought a joystick (a Madcatz Panther XL) to play Tomb Raider with and it didn't work (the original 1996 Tomb Raider). The selection screen would just spin around and I couldn't select anything or start the game. So I put the joystick away and never tried it with any other game. It was probably a Tomb Raider specific problem because I heard other joysticks had the same problem with Tomb Raider. My Twon Ha  I would ride it absolutely everywhere I went once I was able to. Just loved, loved, loved it. It made getting around so much quicker and fun. I mapped out the whole world on paper cuz kept getting lost otherwise, and did every single side quest there was, so Twon Ha was greatly used. If I ever play Outcast again, I'll definitely ride the Twon Ha as soon as I get it. It was fun bounding along on the back of the Twon Ha.
