Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders Now Available Check out the Launch trailer here.Description Playing as the legendary detective Di Renjie, players will explore the unique setting of Tang Dynasty China and unravel a narrative full of twists and turns using familiar adventure gameplay mechanics such as exploration, dialogue choices, interaction with objects and clues, and puzzle-solving. The pixel art style of the game is also an homage to old school graphics, albeit with its own visual signature and design sensibilities. The game contains over 45 locations (many spanning multiple screen widths), each one pixel-painted with care and attention to detail.
History Amid lingering political turmoil, the first and only female empress of China, Wu Zetian rises to power. Within months of her ascension to the throne, murmurs of discontentment and revolution swell as detractors and enemies begin plotting against her. It is against this backdrop that our protagonist, newly appointed investigating magistrate Di Renjie, must solve a gruesome series of murders--which will lead him on a collision course with the Imperial Court and the empress herself. Will our young detective overcome his own inner demons and his allegiance to the previous emperor? What is the connection between the murder victims and the capital's many political secrets? YOU must uncover the truth...
Features Distinct 2D pixel art style Immersive story-driven experience dripping with historical atmosphere Challenging and fun puzzles to solve Unique Chinese cultural and historical references Fantastic soundtrack with 13 original tracks Multiple language support: English and Chinese Happy Gaming! Thanks, BrownEyedTigre As a backer I was sent a "key redeem" email from Humble Bundle but it only links to a Steam key. So I'm having to follow up on that - not being a Steam user

Hi Jenny100 I finally found out - only because of Humble Bundle help - that I had to leave a message on my Kickstarter page to the effect I had pledged for a DRM Free version but had been sent a Steam key. Shortly afterwards a reply appeared (on that same Kickstarter page) which included a key to obtain the DRM Free version. But I had to link to the itch.io website to redeem it. If it hadn't been for the excellent help from Humble Bundle I would still be "game-less !!". Good Luck !!

When I initially contacted Humble Bundle they said they didn't think the DRM Free version had been released "yet" and advised me to contact the developer direct.
But when I tried that, I was just redirected to the Kickstarter page.
So I told Humble Bundle that and they then further advised me to leave a message on my page there. And that was the start of my obtaining the correct version.
I WAS eventually given a key (on that page) but had to do a "linking" procedure to redeem it at itch.io.
Hopefully you won't have to wait long, Jenny100, as the DRM Free version IS obviously out !!

They got back to me with a link at itch.io. The procedure isn't that bad. You have to make an itch.io account if you don't have one already, and be logged in, then click the link they send you and it takes you to a download page for the game. They also want the link you got for the Steam version -- to deactivate it I suppose, or possibly to reuse it for review copies or promotional gifts. Humble used to offer DRM-free versions of games (if the developer made them available) as well as Steam versions. I'm not sure why Humble didn't do that with this game. Does Humble not offer DRM-free games anymore? You can see on the Detective Di website that the only DRM-free version is the one sold by itch.io http://detectivedi.com/home_en.htmlThere's a box on the right with links to the different online shops to buy from. The one with the asterisk is the DRM-free version.

Glad you got the game, Jenny100 But why all the hoops to jump through ?? They weren't imposed for access to the non DRM Free version

I just finished the game and really enjoyed it. I loved the detective aspect of the game and also love the fact we got to explore a new location and time period. The writing is good and the detective Di a really interesting protagonist. I can wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone and in particular to anyone who likes detective and historical games. Hopefully we can get more games with Detective Di in the future. Not sure if this is the best place for this link but if you want to know more about that time period and the making of the game as well as the inspirations behind the game then you can check out my interview with the developer for the Adventure Game Podcast below: http://www.adventuregamespodcast.co...4-interview-with-minh-ta-of-nupixo-gamesHope you all enjoy it and hope the game sells well!
