I'm starting to save up for a new computer (my current one sometimes doesn't ALWAYS accept it's connected to the home wifi, this isn't a lot, but can be a essence). I've been a Dell-girl for over a decade and will always stay with them.
The model I'm looking at (it's space is what I think I'll need) is the G3 series 3590 (it's more expensive than the Inspiron 15 3555 I currently have, but also has twice the space; Inspiron has 500GB HDD, G3 has 1TB 5400 rpm Hybrid Hard Drive.
Does anyone had any experience with this machine? I have ALOT of games on my PC, some of which is older like the old King's Quest games (one game I have to monkey with this laptop to play right is King's Quest: Mask Of Eternity [GOG's edition])
I had also looked at Dell's upgrade to my current computer (the Inspiron 5000 series), which only comes with a SSD with either 125GB or 256GB and I don't think that space would work for me since my current computer is using more than half of it's hard drive's space just with programs and system stuff (I keep music and almost all photos and videos on flash drives.
Does anyone who's had experience with the machine, or may just be rather tech-savy think this would be a good option for me to save back for?

I'm not a big fan of Dell, but they have made a lot of improvements. All the computers I looked at that you are talking about have shared video chips in the processor. Even if you only play adventure games, so many of the new ones require a stand alone video card. I would suggest you look at Dell gaming computers, not business computers which is what the G3 series is. Does your current laptop run Windows 10? I don't know what your budget is, but this is one of their cheaper gaming computers. I wish they would have 500 GB or 1 TB solid state drives, but all I could find were 128 GB SSD boot drives with a 1 TB drive for storage. They do have them with the single large SSDs, but the pricing is over $1500. https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/cty/pdp/spd/g-series-15-5590-laptop/cag155w10p1c1621dpThe page with all their gaming computers is here... https://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/gaming-and-games/sc/game-laptopsOne review of the top 5 gaming laptops for 2019. http://bestreviews.com/best-gaming-laptopsBottom line for gaming is get the best video card you can afford, try for 16 GB RAM and either an 8th generation or 9th generation processor.

I don't have any direct experience with a Dell G3 3590. I notice some reviews warn you that the base models come with only 8 GB of system memory. Depending on which games you play, you may need more memory than that. I'd recommend getting one with at least 16 GB of system memory. Were you going to order direct from Dell or buy from some place like BestBuy or Target? I notice BestBuy lists two models ***here***. Between those two, you'd definitely want the one with 16 GB memory. I'd go with a 512 GB SSD over a 1 TB hybrid drive. The SSD will be faster for games that access the hard drive during play. For example, Recommended specs for Obduction listed ***here*** include an SSD. If you can find a G3 3590 with a 1 TB SSD, that would be better than a 512 GB SSD, but a 512 GB SSD is certainly more workable than one that's only 256 GB or less. I think 128 GB or 256 GB would be too small for a game computer. I wouldn't want to have to constantly worry about drive space and uninstalling and moving stuff to an external drive all the time is a nuisance. Many games have gotten too big for drives that are only 128 to 256 GB. There are some games that would use up most of that 128 GB all by themselves, though I don't know if you play those types of games. But even with the laptop I only use for casual games, 256 GB was too small and I ended up having to uninstall games I'd rather have kept on the hard drive.

Thanks for the quick responses My current laptop does run windows 10. My family has had various Dell computers (from the family desktop to my own personal laptop) for 20 years and I like their customer service and am accustomed to their systems. Games-wise, I have more casual ones than the newer spec-heavy stuff: Nancy Drew (all, including the 2 dossiers), King's Quest, Agatha Christie (6), Redemption Cemetery (all), Dark Tales (all), Cognition, Murder She Wrote (both), Mysteryville (both), House MD, Dragonsphere, Al Emmo (both) Between the computer's OS & system, games and programs, I'm using 285GB on ))my current one (and soonish I will be getting a new game when the new Nancy Drew game comes out), so I fear one with a even a 256GB SSD wouldn't be big enough my budget is close to $800, I will be saving back for it, but I wouldn't feel comfortable paying more than that. I don't play games everyday, but I do want one that can handle the games I do have (and I do plan to revert back to Intel...this computer has AMD and I hate AMD) When I order, it'll be direct from Dell because I will also pay for the warranty. I think I answered all questions, if I missed anything, point it out

So, what do you think about looking at Dell gaming computers instead of business computers?

I don't play games everyday, but I do want one that can handle the games I do have (and I do plan to revert back to Intel...this computer has AMD and I hate AMD) I'm thinking the problem isn't really AMD but something else related to putting Windows 10 on an older laptop. But since Dell only seems to be selling Intel processors for their G series laptops that you were interested in, that doesn't matter. You can be sure Windows 10 will work better on a new model laptop that was made to work with it. You certainly wouldn't need an SSD to help with any of those games you mentioned, so a cheaper spinning drive (or hybrid drive) would be fine, as would 8 GB of system memory. The cheapest computer on the ***Dell G3 page*** would work for those games you mentioned. But keep in mind that if you're interested in the upcoming Nancy Drew game, it will use FPS-type 3D movement and have higher system requirements than the previous Nancy Drew games. If you're going to buy a new computer, consider what games you might be interested in, and that the video card is the most important thing. So instead of the cheapest G3 computer on Dell ***here*** (which has the GTX 1050 graphics) it might be worth spending the extra money for the Dell G5 Draclvr linked to ***here*** (that has the GTX 1650 graphics) to help avoid annoyances like "sticky cursor" in games that use 3D acceleration like the upcoming Nancy Drew. But if you're only interested in older games and casual games with low requirements, the cheaper G3 will work just as well.

Thanks for the response, Jenny. just to mention, this laptop did come with Windows 10 installed (Dell will only renew a warranty up to 5 years and at the beginning of this month I renewed it for it's fifth year.
Thank you for the information and this will definitely give me something to think about until I'm ready to purchase my next computer (which is why I started looking so far in advance, I try to keep informed with big purchases like this

It's always good to think ahead. One thing Jenny always suggests that is also a good idea is to pick some new games you want to play. Check out what the system requirements are and base your search on they will need to play. Just keep in mind that if you want to play new games, more is better as far as video card and RAM go.

I know you're just asking questions while you start saving up for a laptop, NDLVR, but the one Winfrey posted checks all the boxes for what you should be looking for.
1. 8th Generation Core i7 processor (if you can find the Core I8, that would be even better) 2. Large hard drive (although I suggest looking for a large capacity SSD) After switching, I don't think I could bear to go back to a regular HDD! 2. 16 GB Ram 3. Dedicated video card

I thought NDLVR wanted a laptop. The XPS 8930 seems to be a desktop. ***link to XPS 8930 for $957 at the Dell Outlet store***The XPS 8930 may be a fine computer, but I wouldn't want it in my lap. There are Dell laptops in their Outlet store with Nvidia cards ***here*** but you'd want to check what's available right before buying, not months before, because the computers get sold and availability changes. There are some G5's and G7's there that might be worth looking at.

She does want a laptop... I didn't check Winfrey's link to see that it was a desktop! Thanks, Jenny!

Someone else might know more, but I've read a lot about Alienware computers going way, way downhill after they were bought by Dell.
