Delete C:\Program Files\Mulawa Dreaming\Jigsaws\wav\music.ogg - that should do the trick!

Of course you could always switch your sound off or the volume down

I'm just having a go at the free demo puzzle to see how things work. I see that you can have the edge pieces visible or invisible, but can you have it so that ONLY the edge pieces are visible? I like to do the edge pieces first, but it's hard to see them with all the other pieces in the way

Press Z to clear all the pieces then E for just the edge pieces.

Hi Kim,

The moving jigsaws are exactly the same as the others except that the picture moves all the time. It may help if you slow it right down by pressing the V key to Vary the speed.

I also find that it you press O all the inside pieces will disappear just leaving the edges

I've downloaded the demo and am having a terrific time with my puzzle, BUT...I put some pieces of the puzzle in "Box 1", but now don't know how to get them out! Can someone please help?

Back on the main page just press "1" to show the pieces that you put in box #1. Press "1" again to hide them.

Hey Peter! Thank you for your gift of the jigsaw puzzles. Its been a while since I played them much, but I did enjoy them as a kid. And I find I'm still a kid, just in an older body.

I've played with it some a few days, which I know makes me ignorant of a lot of aspects, but I offer these constructive criticisms. I hope they are taken in the spirit they are given, not as complaints but as thoughts on making the world a better place.

The Help Menu could use a few enhancements. Press the "H" key for those that haven't found this yet. I found it by the old tried and true PRK "Press Random Keys" method.

1. "C", background colour swatch on/off. It wasn't obvious that clicking on the swatch changes the background color. A lot of the darker edges of pieces were difficult to see against the default dark blue background. Of course, this woud be true of a light background and lighter edged pieces. The option is there if you know how to use it. Something like "Change background colo(u)r" would be more informative.

2. Piece management needs enhancement. Think about how you solve a real world jigsaw puzzle. Do you just open the box and try to solve it in place, or dump it try to sort things? The five boxes in box mode aren't enough. Trying to sort things before going into box mode doesn't help, they seem unconnected. When in box mode, you can't sort, just select something for a box, and things are piled up. You've got piles of stuff to sort through. You just can't see everything at once, and it can get very cluttered. I was dragging pieces all over the place to be able to see other stuff in puzzle mode. With pieces stacked all over each other, you just can't see all the edges to sort. There were times when I wished could just click and drag an area away to make room to work instead of clicking and dragging hundreds of pieces to see what I was working with. Since the puzzle is full screen, maybe having different windows to work in with would help.

That said, I think this could be way more fun than solataire or hearts. Its something most folks could win everytime without a walkthrough or other help, and with the reward of a beautiful photo. The Roses are beautiful.

I can get to the different boxes to see what I've got, but how do I get the pieces back on the main screen so I can put them in place? Right now I've placed all the pieces that were on the main screen, but I've got a bunch that are sitting in "Box 1" that I can't get on to the puzzle screen. What am I missing?

Thank you for taking the time to make such lengthy comments. Have you had a look at the FAQ section where I outline how I go about solving the puzzles? I obviously love jigsaws myself - my main aim was to recreate the dining room table experience - hence the full screen and the lack of pop up windows.

It is a fine line between not enough info and info overload - I probably err toward the former.

Basically I hope that people's knowledge will grow as they play each week. I also find that people tend to share new things they've discovered via the Mulawa Dreaming forum.

I just "accidentally" found the pieces. They ended up BEHIND the completed parts of the puzzle. Only by moving the partially-completed puzzle around on the desktop was I able to find all my missing puzzles by looking through the open spaces. Except for my blundering upon them, I NEVER would have found them.

What I do Mary is press 1, move the mouse to the center of the screen and then press T for "Tidy"

Whereas toward the end of the puzzle, I find myself hitting 'E' (hide edge also hides all connected to edge) grab one of those pieces sitting under the almost completed puzzle then press 'E' again to reveal the edge.

Of course, towards the end of the game, what I really really want is a virtual box-lid that I can put the remaining pieces into and move around above the puzzle. That's what I tend to do with pieces in physical puzzles.

I think I know what you mean Pib - towards the end I hit "A" for All, drag the finished lot half way off the page (down for example), move the cursor (to the top for example) and press "T" for Tidy - sheer magic!

whereever you click on the screen with the cursor before you click T is where the loose pices will ed up so I sometimes have them in the centre or at the top the bottom or the side depending on what part of the jigsaw I am working on.
I am really a beginner at jigsaws, so I have to admit I always turn all the pieces the correct way, do the outside first and then I normally just use one box because I search to find only a few pieces that I want to work with at a time.
You will notice that each time you press on the B to go to the screen with the boxes and the pieces the view of the pieces has changes so I can normally track down the elusive one of one colour that I didn't see the first time

Despite all the conveniences that Peter has provided, I make use of just a few. I love a challenge!
When I start a new puzzle, that is the only time I look at the picture. I pull out all the edge pieces, and sort the other pieces into piles by color. I haven't needed to use the boxes at all.
The button I use the most is the background color one. I change it depending on what color I'm working on. Other than that, I just dive in!

There was only one exception to this - Tierazon Revisited - had a lot of plain black background. I did use the tidy up and unrotate for that one .

Thank you Peter and Bea - I have it worked out now and have nearly finished my first puzzle. I've been doing it with the pieces all the right way up - it would be very hard indeed with them rotated, I think. I hope to find out cos I've enjoyed doing the first one and will sign up for the free trial. Yippee!

The free trial is nice - I've enjoyed the puzzles and figuring out how everything works. The pictures are interesting to work on! I just ordered a years subscription and look forward to more puzzles:))
