Just tried to pre-order Midnight in Salem at HER and the whole website is down! Guess I'm not the only one who decided not to wait. Or they could just be a bit slow in getting the pages updated.

Fortunately the website wasn't down for very long. I submitted my preorder as well.

Preordered physical copies are supposedly not going to start shipping until the date of release.

Do you suppose the game will become available for download someplace other that Her Interactive at some point? I don't know if I want to bother with trying to get a physical copy but I don't think I'll want to purchase a download through them either.

I just almost ordered the physical copy but why does it try to charge you for the extended download service? Are you going to need that with the disc like so many games now? I took it off but it is still too expensive for me to buy with that shipping charge. I have to think about it some more.

This is why I only order physical copies of the games from HeR Interactive, as their extended download service is a bit of a rip-off in my opinion. I don't download games unless you have unlimited downloads of it and they do not offer that. Whether this is a decision of the company's or whether it is the decision of Digital River, it really stinks. You just need to remove the extended download option if you wish to order a physical copy.

It is supposed to be available on Steam but I don't know if that will be on release day or if it will be at some point down the road.

I hope the full game is on the disc.

Where did you see that about Steam? I searched Steam but don't see any sign of it at all. As you know, I will not be playing the game right away so I don't need it on release day.

It is not on Steam yet. This was there a while back but nothing since then, and the release date has since been changed.

I haven't heard anyone say as yet that the game won't be on Steam, however. If I do, I will let you know.

You don't need anything besides the game CD if you order a physical-version game from HeR Interactive - it is not dependent on the internet. It has always been the full game.

Someone from HeR said that the game will be available on Steam "later." That doesn't sound like it will be available there on the release date.

Calina (Little Jackalope) from the HeR Interactive Amateur Sleuth Blog stated today that it took her roughly 15-20 hours to play through Midnight in Salem.

And now today she is saying that the game will be available on Steam on December 3rd. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
