I have no idea, but in general the previous ND games arrived at Big Fish about a year to a year-and-a-half after they were released.

I'll eventually get it from somewhere family. I still have 13 Nancy Drew games to play before this one, so no hurry!

I am not sure what you mean by free download? If you purchase the game, it comes with a free strategy guide - or are you referring to something else?

$5.99 is the EXTENDED download service. Marian, you should explain this as I'm not as familiar with it.

Ah, the extended download service. I would have to reread the whole policy but it's something along the lines of the fact that you have 30 days in which to download the game and if you want to be able to download it after that, you need to purchase the extended download service (I don't remember how long that is good for). That is why I said earlier that the policy stinks. I know several people who bought games from HeR through Digital River and then their computer crashed, for example, and then they could no longer re-download the games that they had purchased because their 30 days had expired. I may be wrong about the specifics, but that will give you the general idea. Not everyone realizes that they should be putting the game installer on a USB or external drive so that they will have it in the future after the 30 days have expired.

Once you purchase a game and download it, I think the re-downloads of that game should be unlimited after that with no ifs, ands, or buts.

I wasn't sure even if you were allowed to put the installer on a USB or external drive. The only game I have downloaded from them is Odyssey - The Young Socratics which I won here at GameBoomers.

I ordered the hard copy. I prefer that in case my computer would crash so I will still have the game I can load in a new computer.

That's a good decision. The free digital strategy guide will be available to you as well - they send people an email with the link to download it when the game is close to being released.

As for pre-orders for Midnight in Salem – we still have physical copies available! The Extended Download Service (EDS) really only applies to the digital download copies. If you pre-order the digital download copy of the game, you will have 30 days from December 3rd to download. The EDS extends this allowance to 5 years. So if you don’t save your digital game to a jump drive or DVD, then this may be a good option for you.

As for payments, your debit or credit card will be checked for funds, so you may see an incomplete transaction on your bank account, but the payment will not process until the game is released. If you pay with Paypal, the charge will go through right away.

I agree, oldbroad, that this is information that should have been readily available prior to preorders.

I will also say that I am thus far quite underwhelmed by the screenshots as well as a few mistakes/typos that I have observed in them. They do keep saying that these are not final renderings, but I would be hard pressed to understand why if indeed they are not finalized, why we would not be seeing finalized screenshots a mere 5 weeks away from the game's supposed release date. I think the graphics from their games in the 2000s look better than what I have seen so far.

Are graphics all-important to me? No. But since switching to a new engine to allow for better graphics is what they were telling us was one of the reasons for the switch, then it becomes annoying and an irritant. The graphics thus far seem like a step backward rather than a step forward. I am not expecting much at all from this game now and if I end up getting more than that, I will be pleasantly surprised. I just hope it does not prove to be an embarrassment. What I have seen so far of the actual game gives me cause for concern.

Marian, the constant "not final renderings" on a game near completion is the weirdest thing I've ever seen!

Definitely weird! I'm glad I haven't been anxiously awaiting the game like a lot of other people have.

players are jjust happy it is finally release, and we have the cd-rom version, the download versions players will get theirs before us, look how long it took, i just hope it is not another delay, everybody be upset.
