I took my first computer class in 1985. I supported myself as a word processor. My first computer was bought out of Popular Science (in the back ads). I bought it for $500 and it came with a dot metrix printer. It didn't even have a hard drive. I had to load the program each time and then put in a 5 1/4" floppy to copy on it. My first games were Pong and Pac Man at that time. I have probably had 6 computers since then. My husband also put together an old one with WIN 98 so I can play older games. It sits in the spare bedroom. He has his WIN XP computer and I have my own w/ WIN XP.
He doesn't play games except Solitaire. I started playing games when I retired in 2001. I have played over 150 games now and I am still buying more and playing them. I sell them as used on Amazon.com. That way I can recoop some of my money.
I keep lists on my computer of all the games I play and books I read. Otherwise, I couldn't remember them. Ha!
When I am not playing computer games I either read or my husband and I travel all over the world. Retirement is grand. I told my grown kids that I am spending their inheritance. They think it is great.

I also started to play after I retired, but it is hard to finde here in Israel adventure games so most of them I buy through the internet and the shipping cost is very high. So I began to play backgammon and other board games on the http://www.itsyourturn.com Maybe you try it fellows

My father introduced me to the Colossal Cave back in the early 80s. I was visiting him for a weekend; the first day we played for 12 hours and I ended up calling work every day to ask for another day off. I'll never forget in one game, after trying to get rid of a dragon in oh so many ways, throwing that stupid bird in a bird cage at him and turns out the bird was a flame-throwing bird and fried the dragon. After five days, I had to go back to work and we still hadn't finished it. We played games every time I visited him - all the Zorks and whatever we could find. Didn't really have time while I was working to play on my own, but now - another woman, also retired, and I play together. I do play on my own, but find it's more fun with two. What I'm not good at, she is and v/v.
