I have just a single CD, with no instruction booklet. Did one usually come with instructions or are the only on the CD itself?

I was able to install it on my WinME and it seems to work. The "mechanics" are a bit strange. There doesn't seem to be an inventory as such. I checked a number of sites for a review of the game, but didn't find one. Can anyone tell me anything about it? If they played it, did they enjoy it or was it in the yuck class? I don't even remember how I managed to acquire this game. I have lots of games to play and I don't want to get involved in something that is going to bore or exasperate me. Comments please.

I played this one ages ago but I do seem to remember a manual. Can't remember much about it though. I also remember that you don't have an inventory at the very beginning, you have to find your bag first.

I checked my review to be sure on this last point and whilst there I noticed that somehow we missed the system requirements. Would it be possible for you to send them to us .... thanks.

I have a manual included in the CD case (15 pages).

When I played it I had to set the Screen Settings at 640 X 480 32 bit, True Color.

System Requirements:

486 DX 25 CPU
4MB of memory (560 K free base memory
SVGA dispay
double speed CD-ROM
MPC2 compliant sound card
Microsoft Mouse or compatible
DOS 5.0 or newer
Windows 3.1 or newer
Apple QuickTime for Windows 2.01 or newer
8 MB of free hard drive space

The SETUP program will offer to also install Apple QuickTime 2.03.
You should always install the newest version of QuickTime (it says here )

This is a Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 game but it will probably play in other OS's

Press the "spacebar" to bring up the menu at the top of the screen.

There is a Manual.hlp file on my Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster game CD. It has pictures of the cursors, which is more than the paper manual has. You can double-click on Manual.hlp in Explorer or Start/Run and browse to it. If you don't have this file on your game CD, I can email it to you.

I played Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster on a 400 MHz computer with Win 98 FE. One of the puzzles was mixed up and the "correct" answer did not work. I eventually got it by trial and error, which took forever. I have a theory that computer speed may have had something to do with the problem, since people who played it on a slower computer than 400 MHz didn't seem to get it. I lent my game to someone with a slower computer than 400 MHz and the puzzle worked fine for them.

Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster would not work with QuickTime 2.12. I had to install the QuickTime 2.03 that was on the game CD. And I never completely got rid of QT 2.03 until I reformatted. I'm pretty sure the game didn't have an uninstaller and you had to delete the game folder to get rid of it. I don't know if the game left anything in the registry the way the QT 2.03 did.

Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster had a very creepy and oppressive mood and was full of mazes. Nearly the whole game was wandering around mazes of some sort - in the house, in the caves, and a hedge maze in the garden.

Except for the Cave Maze and the Rock Crusher I thought the game pretty interesting........for whatever that opinion is worth.

This was one of the first adventures (if you got it in the Mummy: Tomb of the Pharoah bundle the game play should be familiar enough). At times I had to use a walkthrough to help me as this game has many mazes that can be at times frustrating. I'd give it a passing grade and highly recommend it to adventure gamers that enjoyed Myst, Riven and the like. As there are many mechanical puzzles throughout the games that can be solved by reading various scraps of a notebook found throughout the various nooks and crannies of Dr. Frankenstein's castle. Tim Curry does an admirable job playing the evil Dr but the other actors are definately not as good but thankfully most of the game is played with little interaction with these other charachters. Though beforwarned there are time where quick reflexes are needed as you can die in this game so be sure to save early and often. If you get stuck I found the walkthrough by Chris Scott the most helpful
