Remember how years ago there used to be carabiners in every HOP game?
You hardly ever see them any more.
Where have they gone?

I played a game not too long ago in which I had to find a carabiner to connect 2 chains. For the life of me, I can't remember which one, though !

Was it a recent game or an older one?
Was it a recent game or an older one -- as in 10 or 12 years old?
The games I played back then often had carabiners in the Hidden object searches.
These were not iHOGS and you didn't actually "use" the carabiners on anything.
But they were a common object to find in the Hidden object search lists.

I have seen carabiners this year, but since I play a mix of older and newer HOPAs/HOGs I can't remember whether they were in one or the other, or both.

Now I will keep an eye out.

When I first started playing HOPs, 98 to 99% of them would have carabiners in the hidden object searches, some would have them in more than one search.
Now I see carabiners in maybe 0.00003% of HOP/iHOP/HOPA type games.
It's a big difference.

I also remember fixing a chain with a carabiner recently. But don't ask me what game.

And in the past, ALL the hops had a horseshoe. Less so now.

I found one recently in one of the games I played that is mentioned in the "What Casual Games are you Playing Right Now" thread. I don't remember which game but they are all older games except Halloween Chronicles. It's not really something I would normally notice or remember though truthfully.

So it seems that instead of the hundreds of carabiners we saw in HOP scenes in games from ca. 10 years ago, there is a single carabiner in a recent game that is used as an inventory item to connect two other items.

I do see horseshoes in some recent HOP searches, but not carabiners.

In October, I played:

Halloween Chronicles: Cursed Family
Whispered Secrets: Morbid Obsession
Dark City: Budapest

I'm pretty sure I had to find a carabiner in one of them but, unfortunately, I don't remember which one. It was definitely not in a HO scene, though.

You're so right. There was a time when carabiners were found in every single game.

I've been playing older games recently (as in 7 to 12 years old), and been seeing carabiners.
So I was wondering where they all went.

I'm playing the demo of "Enchanted Kingdom: Master of Riddles", and guess what I just found. Yup ... a carabiner ! They're making a comeback !

This is a funny thread, Jenny. Thanks! I noticed all those carabiners, too.

I find it even more amusing to encounter situational "out of place" HO things, like when you are searching an alien space ship's hold for a Bowling Pin, a 1900's phonograph and a Surf Board. Or maybe your story is set in the Old West, and you are looking for an Ice Axe, a Traffic Cone and a Pepsi Can.
