I bought A Vampyre Story several years ago.
It was DRM-free too.

I would have bought it from you back then.
I kept watching for you to get it.
But you turned up your nose at it.
Another company didn't -- and I bought it from them at full price.

Does it still work Jenny? I have the disc and the Steam version but neither work. The disc doesn't work in Win 7 or XP and Steam doesn't work in 7. Tried the patch with both.

I remember your having problems with this game, oldbroad. I hope that the GOG version will work for you - if it doesn't, you can get a refund from them with no hassles about asking for one.

The DRM-free download worked.

The disc version I'd bought from Amazon a few years earlier never
worked because of the DRM.
Although I was using XP at the time, the game still didn't work.

Apparently the DRM failing was not an uncommon problem, because
later there was a patch from the developers that removed that stinking
DRM from the disc because so many people couldn't play the game.
But by then I'd already bought and played the DRM-free download.
So I never bothered trying to play the disc version.

Years later I did play the DRM-free download on something
later than XP.
I forget if it was Windows 7 or Windows 8, but it certainly wasn't 10.

And I tried the patch that was supposed to remove the DRM and it didn't work either.

Hello all I'm back! I had seen the Dev on Facebook the other day for the first time. I've never seen him ever make a post before. He eluded to hoping to make a sequel soon. As I understand it he got the rights back which is why it's now on GOG. Here is hoping.

The DRM was bad, but I think the game had other issues besides the DRM.
The patch was supposed to fix several things that the developers thought
might be preventing the game from playing -- not just removing the DRM
but improving compatibility with hardware, drivers, etc.

The GOG version is probably very similar to the DRM-free version I bought,
and which worked perfectly.

Actually, I gave an update a year ago here. The story is to be continued!

Yes, here's hoping for the sequel AND that it will also be on GOG!

I follow the Facebook page and it appears to be dead in the water again. And the GOG download plays perfectly!

Facebook page is active and he posted yesterday and said "Well like I said we are working on a demo for it, and if it goes well and we can work out a deal with a publisher, you may very well get a chance to play part 2."

OK, that's weird! Last post I see is from December 16 when the post says "I am the REAL Bill Tiller!" Nothing after that. FB page is active, but nothing about the game itself being active. Wonder if there is a different FB page?

A few people here had trouble getting the Steam version working properly, though, and that's why I announced the GOG version as well.

Yes, that's why I didn't buy the Steam version - too many issues getting it to run. The GOG version runs perfectly on my Windows 10.
