A stupid guy is making money out of free games




Can somebody who is good at hacking just mess his '^&"*&^^& computer up please?

I ran a search at Alltheweb.com about the first game that I didn't know about and it seems that he/she is selling more than just free adventures...

I know these games are all available for download, but if you look at the bottom there is a faint copyright credit to Islona Entertainment.

I looked up the company on the web and it appears that they are the copyright holders for 6th Sense Investigations and put together the original compilation CD that is now for sale at EBay. Islona Ent Adventure CD

Originally it retailed at 29.00. I don't think this is a ripped version, but a re-seller of the original CD. The disc label is the same. I'll keep checking though.

OK I finally found a link to the company itself and it appears they are no longer around. They were retailing classic Amiga and other games on CD's.

Laura, do you know where we can download the 6th Sense Investigations? It looks sooo nice...

Aparently as you can read in this thread in the Tierra forums they definitely didn't have the rights to include KQ1 remake, not the other ones either and not only that but they endagered the future of Tierra by this stupid action...

I finally found a mention of this game at Adventure Archive. Both CineTech and EpicMarketing the original developers/publishers are non-locatable on the web. Although all the other games on the CD for sale can be found online for free download - not so with Sixth Sense.

We almost posted at the same time - so I didn;t see your post right away. I had that exact feeling. The Sixth Sense game is older and was released on a CD. But the others all have active sites and developers. This seemed so wrong to me, so I sent a link to the EBay site to all 4 of them and asked whether it was an authorized version. From reading the Tierra forum link - I know the answer to that question now.

Seems to me - they should go after this guy/store. I was happy to see that they are considering a united approach against this rip off. GRRRRRR

Take a look at some of this guy's Ebay negative feedback. One buyer says the Tetris disk he got had a message on it to scan for viruses. Another says that the FM Sim disk consisted of a bunch of demos and another buyer said he had been sent a pirated disk. Seems to be a pattern here; you gotta admit he's resourceful.

Let's see, I can burn a CD with Zork 1,2,3. Burn another CD with the Post Mortem demo. Finish it up with a CD of Dimi's Inventory 1-3 and sell the whole thing on Ebay as a 3-Disk Adventure Gamer's bundle for hmmmmmm $19.99!

Thanks for exposing this dude- I hope the companies with the original copyrights will put a stop to it (especially Tierra- here they make these great games (KQ1&2 remakes) for free and some twerps try to make money off it!).

I do not download much from the internet because I find so much of it is, frankly, confusing to me in the way it is presented. The links above to KQ1 and KQ2 for downloading are fine but at these download locations are also music downloads, etc. It doesn't say.....at least I didn't see that it did, but are these downloads necessary for playing the game? I understand the "patches" but not the others.

BillyBob, on the King's Quest Tierra games you can download the basic game and will be able to play just fine. If you download the speech packs, there will be voices in the game as well as text to read; the music download will add a nice soundtrack. Not necessary for the games, but the speech and music do enhance them.

Hi Inland - congrats (yep, I knew what you were referring to) and nope, I'm not "the spy"

This guy was left feedback on 12/7/02 from someone warning that the CD might not be original, so the seller claims he has a copyright on the CD.
This is another one like the one demidemidemi found. So he has already sold at least one if not more.

Jenny, only KQ1 has a speech version. KQ2 remake only has a music pack, which you do not need to run KQ2, but it is highly recommended to install it also, since then the music quality will be much superior to the MIDI version.
