I looked at this guys EBAY site, and he sells all kind of compelations of games and other software. He puts a fancy label on the CD's so they 'look' authentic!

I noticed he has over 60 negative feedbacks, but more than 2000 possitives. I guess with sites like the now defunct Napster and others like it, most people just don't see this for what it is... stealing! (or they just don't care!)

I Do remember the agapito and other games being made available on Ebay UK, I steered clear as I didn't recognise the games and thought that if we needed an emulator to play, it wasn't 100% Kosher. ie a rip of an older game. This was about 6 months ago....

I think we are back into the freeware/abandonware saga with this.. Someone bothered to create the game, oh for a scenario where we could just send a royalty to the creator and be allowed to play!!

The other thing these guys do is create a fake id for Ebay, use it for a while, then start pushing bogus stuff. Not sure if this guy comes into this category, but it Does happen.

read your mail. Sorry about my 'hacker' comments in the beginning of this thread, but I was really angry with the guy. It really annoys me when someone tries to get money out of something that those who worked for it, give it out for free.

it's because KQ2VGA is a *much* bigger game than their first remake (with a lot more dialogue). the KQ2 download was already 40+ MB and they didn't want their downloads to be prohibitive since online distribution is their only distribution.

... but he still has lots of stuff to sell at e-bay, some are obvious freewares on CDR's.

i followed the link to this guy's website and saw that one of the other CDs he sells contains children's software, including some disney stuff. my impression is that disney is very protective of their copyright (they challenged the copyright law to the supreme court recently because they don't want mickey mouse to become public domain...) anyway, i have a friend who works at Disney home video, i'm hoping she can send me an email address for someone in the legal department so this will be looked into.

Hmmm, I hope ebay's legal team goes after this guy for including those freeware games on the cd without proper authorization. I did notice on the website link on the first page of this thread, the site kinda implied that the user wasn't paying for the freeware games. It acted like the user was paying to receive Sixth Sense Investigations and the other games were thrown in for free. Of course, it doesn't mention anywhere that they were free to begin with! So, wrong wrong wrong not to give any credit for developers. Very shady.

I read this thread yesterday, and as I do a lot of buying, along with a little selling, on Ebay, it really burned me that these people are out there still trying to scam anyone they can. I sent an email to the Ebay investigations team regarding this guy, along with the link to this thread for a little background. I just received an email that they would definately investigate further, but that their policy prohibits them from giving me any details of their progress.

After reading the last few replies, guess I don't need a progress report afterall!!

I too sent it to a contact at eBay UK.. the manager of the sports division. He sent it on to the gaming chap, so I can always ask if other action is being taken

I have to admit that the folks from Gameboomers along with the folks from the Tierra forums were the ones that took action more than anyone else. Congratulations boomers! You are one hell of a group of adventurers (in the good meaning - just writing this because another term I used before, bomb, got misunderstood )
