We’ve been working on migrating the Carol Reed games to a new gaming engine over the last weeks. The purpose is not to change the characteristics of the games, but to ensure future compatibility and improve portability with various operative systems.

I’ve compiled a short test game now, and need your help trying it out! I’ve blended two scenes from the two latest games, and made some minor changes. So there isn’t really anything new in it (except for a higher resolution, for those with ultra large screens).

Draclvr: I can't ever get enough offers. Trading gaming engine after 13 games with the same framework is serious business, so I'd like the whole world to test my game.

Oldbroad: You can be of much help. This isn't really complicated. I just want to make sure that the game starts up, doesn't crash, is playable without lag, and doesn't explode your computer. Basic stuff like that.

Okay, I'm in. I'll PM you, but if my computer does blow up, I'm coming after you!

I tested it this morning and can attest to the fact that the game started, nothing crashed, no lag, and my computer did not explode.

Mikael, I'll be happy to help! I was thinking it required a lot of play time, which sadly, I don't have.

Finished the demo, no problems and it ran smoothly, I send you and Email with more details. It was fun to play while it lasted.

I checked the Hint system a couple of times , not that I needed it, to see if that worked as well and yes, worked A1.

I did the same thing Starcom. Also saved and loaded a couple of times to check that.

Thank you all for testing my game, and for being so thorough. I didn't provide any specific details, since I figured that most of us seasoned players know what to look for. And your reports have proven me right!

We haven't encountered any actual problems yet, except for one small quirk, that's been corrected. There's still plenty of room for additional testers though!

this is so eerie I was thinking about you these past two weeks about you Mikael , I was wondering when the next game would be out Im replaying you games as of right now Im replaying, "Bosch's Damation" I absolutely LOVE THEM ....yes that much I cant wait for your next game ... ps I have Learned alot from this game incredible i read about Malte Stierngranat very interesting coffin and pyramid Great Game! Thank you Revco, but the testing period is over now. I think we have a stable engine now. A big thank you to all all of you who tested the demo game!

This is the brilliant work of of genius programmer and long-time Carol Reed collaborator Dennis Ploeger, and it goes without saying that I'll be grateful to him for the rest of my life. Even though my games are old school (in many ways, but not all), I desperately needed a new framework to be able to keep up with technology advances, and would never have been able to pull that off by myself.

Tonight I've completed the first scene for the next game with the new engine, and the result is astonishing. It looks like we'll have a Carol #17 sometime after Christmas.
