Ok, so being as Tigger brought up the best 'packaging' art on a game, my thoughts immediately went to the best or rather the most exciting opening scene! :-) There have been a lot of those, I know, but I'm referring to one that gets you all excited and gives you goosebumps or makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up! <VBG>
I'm sooooo torn on this, but the one that stays in my mind the most is the one from Traitor's Gate!!! The sound of a jet landing at the Heathrow airport... wow! Then on to the debriefing room. Love that Mission Impossible stuff!
So which one got you all pumped up!????

Some of you may remember the introduction to BLACK DAHLIA. That sort of set the scene rather dramatically.

The opening in "Syberia" was great (for me it was all downhill after that.)
"Legacy of Time" had a great opening (and also a great closing) scene.
Used to answer to "Peter Smith", now answers to "Peter Rootham-Smith"

this is not an adventure game, but my favorite intro for a game is Final Fantasy 8. i often load that game up just to watch the intro. when i first got my new computer (replacing a dinky laptop) and saw the intro in all its glory, i almost cried. really! i used to do the same with the intro movie for KQ6 years ago when it first came out. emily

Lighthouse and Myst have such excellent openings. I really liked GK3 and the new version of the GK theme song.

I loved the intro to Broken Sword II, that mixture between todays Paris and ancient mayan was great.

It only comes to mind because I recently completed it (and BAAGED for $1.99 at the local Babbages) but the intro to The Ward was one of the best I have seen in ages. While the game got average reviews, I truly enjoyed this title despite the presence of multple slider puzzles, which I generally hate.
hope this helps, Brian

Even though the game got only mediocre or worse reviews I think the intro to Temujin was one of the best (thoroughly enjoyed the game BTW inspite of those reviews!)also Ripper, and Byzantine should be added as well as all mentioned previously. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Gaming New Year to All!!! Bill
Would the oceans be deeper if there weren't any sponges? If the world didn't suck would we all fall off? Currently playing Hitchcock, Syberia, Dark Fall, Byzantine, The Dame Was Loaded and Atlantis 3.
