As much as I'm loving Zanzarah, I've put it aside for a few days as my copy of Divine Divinity arrived this weekend, and I'm totally and utterly hooked! I've read a lot of the threads on the game here, and found them incredibly useful, particularly the very long one. I need some advice, though. I'm playing as a warrior and am currently level 8. I've completed a few quests but am finding it hard to do any more as I keep running across creatures that are too tough for my wimpy warrior. I've done the catacombs, cured the crazy guy and gone to the barracks to arrange an escort for the healers. I've also met the guy in the inn and found out that I need to go to the castle (haven't ventured that way yet). Firstly, I thought I would deliver the letter for General Alix, but kept getting killed by a particularly horrible group of Orcs so I gave up on that. I then decided I should level up a bit and roam around and kill loads of spiders, boars and bees as they are relatively easy, but bumped into the dreaded drummer guy. Man, I HATE that guy . I suppose I could go back and do a bit of clearing up around Aelroth (sp?)as I've only cleared up a little around the town. Are there any drummers up there? Or should I go to the castle? I haven't solved George's murder yet, but think I might have broken that quest as all the healers have now left the town bar one! Any suggestions/tips most welcome! It's such a great game.

Hi,
Don't go to the castle until you are at least a level 25-30 because the dungeon you end up in is way to hard for you yet.
Clear up the orcs around the first area to get stronger for now and no there are no drummer boys in that area.
The healers do end up in the (I think) Blue Boar Inn. (Its the one not far from where Captain Alex is.

Hey Jules, I don't believe you can place things into barrels and chests, so you'll have to settle for a tidy mess on floors. on managing that with no problem. Magic is so right, leave the castle problem until towards the end-for more than one reason. And if you've read the back strands you know why. It's best to clear out an area all the way-or as much as you can-to level fast and know the way is clear and because some things are triggered by what you do. Don't forget if things get too tense, and you've dropped your other teleporter by a bed, you can zip out when you have to and recharge yourself. If you check out your maps, you'll know when you're done in the area. Have fun-this is a great game. In fact, so far in my short career in RPG this is my favorite!! Ingie

All good advice! I sure wouldn't go to the castle until you have done almost everything else (even though the characters in the game will tell you to go there) - the main storyline kicks in there. I would also avoid the abbey until you're stronger. Remember when you're walking around to press the alt key, and you'll find a lot of treasure that you can't see ordinarily. To get past tough situations early on, I used black potions to make myself invisible, and just zoomed by the baddies to do what I needed. That way I could solve some quests and level up without fighting when I knew I couldn't win the fight. I played as a wizard, but I have to say that the best "special" move belongs to the warrior, and you will probably find it to come in handy quite often. Glad you're enjoying this one too !

the orc drummers because of their ability to regenrate(or was it heal) at the level you are nearly imposssible to kill. you can try to freeze( with the freeze spell)them so you can runaway from them.
the game allows you to go practically anywhere yet your character will not be able to handle most places at ssuch a low level. I agree with the others, hold off on the castle until you have no more quests left. and for the abbey, wait until you are level 20 or so.
i played as a warrior but only used the special move early on.

You can actually put things in chests and they will stay there forever. Click on the chest to open it, and then just slide the things you want to store into the chest. At certain points you will have just plain too much stuff and will need a safe place to stash things. Because travel gets easier as the game progresses, you'll be able to find a convenient chest near merchants and possibly a place to sleep.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hi all, Yes you can store stuff in chests and barrels as mentioned above. I lived at the Abbey after I got strong enough to get rid of the undead around the area. I had so many chests and barrels and a Teleport Stone right in the middle of the courtyard which was nice. Also just to the north of the Abbey you will find a farmhouse with a bed which you can put into your inventory to carry around with you. This is a handy thing to have to sleep on. The bed doesn't weigh anything at all. The bed is big but later when you find the book of holding you will be able to put the bed into that in your inventory and get your space back in the inventory and still have the bed with you. You can also transport chests and barrels one at a time or maybe 2 depending how strong you are from one place to another. You would need both your teleporter stones with you leaving them in the 2 places you want the stuff to end up in. All of this may be to much for you to do or maybe to understand for now but save this info for yourself to have when you are ready for it. Most important enjoy the game and in time all of this will make sense.

Jules, I didn't play as warrior, but you'll want flying disc-really useful at the end, the enchant one-that's a warrior's I think, and I loved elemental hail-came in handy. But, you can pick and choose from any of the three paths. As long as you're comfortable with your method of choice-I used the Long Blade and Shield(looked so nifty)don't see any reason to change, except to give yourself a break and learn to methods. Don't overlook the magic. And lockpicking is real handy too. Ingie

Hi, I played 3 games back and forth. One as a warrior. One as a Mage. One as a Survivor. In all three I used mostly the sword or Axe. I had bow for each but the magic seemed faster. The freeze spell is the best to use but even better if you have freeze on a weapon. I got as many skills for each as I could. You have to uplevel each skill up to level 5 and when you receive skills points to give out to the skills...you only get one skill point at a time. You may use the skill point right away or like the game keeps telling you...you may save them up and use them later when you have more to give out. Repair will let you do it yourself and save money and also if you repair yourself you will make more money on the item when you sell it. Lockpick is also very important to get because there are many chests and doors in the world to open. Alchemy is another important one because you can than just buy empty bottles and make your own by picking herbs and mushrooms to use in making the potions. Pickpocket you only need level 1 for a Theives Guild assignment. Enchant item is a good one because you can then use all the charms you find to put on your equipment. Well thats all I can think of for the moment.

Sorry to bombard you all with millions of questions! Last night I wandered into the graveyard in Rivertown and watched the poor lady being kidnapped by Jake. I, being the amazing hero that I am, leapt to the rescue and started slashing and hacking away at the corpses. When I went down one of the pits, however, I discovered that I couldn't save my game. This freaked me out and I reloaded a previous save and went and did something else. Is this a glitch in the game? I did download the latest patch, but am somewhat technologically challenged so it may not have worked. Also, how do I get into the locked quarantined area in the town? There are guards everywhere, so presumably I can't just lockpick the gates?

You're right - that's a glitch; the only place in the game where you can't save. I thought the patch fixed that, but I guess not. And hey, bombard away! You've actually asked very few, and here we are just bubbling away with answers!

Keep going around the quarantine area and will find a backentrance that you can pick.

Is there some reason why the whole bar at the bottom of the screen (the one that accesses the inventory, skills, etc.) disappears every time I try to repair something? The only way I can get it back is to exit the game and start again...
