Hi team. The old man is back again. Having successfully completed sea of darkness thanks to your usual helpful advice, I am now going back to another oldie. Of course, I am in trouble straight away. No way can I get the mime person to follow me. Any suggestions or could someone send me a save immediately after?. Thanks- Peter

Hi Peter, I assume you are playing the original game and not the 20th anniversary edition? If so, there are a whole bunch of Sins of the Fathers saved games here. You should be able to find one that is shortly after the mime there. If you are playing the 20th anniversary edition, is it the GOG version or the Steam version? I see there are possible issues with the Steam version and the mime, and can show you a thread with some suggested workarounds. Congratulations on finishing Sea of Darkness.

So, I downloaded a save. As Marian said, it is a zip file, so I right clicked the download and selected "extract all." I then have two files - one is a text file with some general information. The other is the actual save titled GKSG.002. This is the file you would move to the saved games folder. I just downloaded a random file -- you would move the file you downloaded, of course. I am going to assume the save games are located the same place as on Windows 10. But since I don't have either the game or Windows 11, that's just an assumption.
I went ahead and submitted the question on the Steam discussion page for this game. It's awaiting moderation.

Peter, I heard back from someone at Steam. Since the AppData file is hidden by default, you will need to make it visible. Saves should be either in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Phoenix Online Studios\GK1\ or in <Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\262000\remote\gk1\

Drac, is this for Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 20th Anniversary Edition? I am afraid that it might be, being as one of the above folders mentions Phoenix Online Studios who did the remastered version. Peter has the original Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers which is a different download and game on Steam, so just checking. Peter is playing this one.

Yeah, I didn't specify. I'm sure you're right. However the locations should be similar... do we know the studio or developer who did the original? It might be listed in a file under that name.

Then it's possible that Sierra could just replace the references to Phoenix.

Yes, hopefully that will be the case. It also just occurred to me that Peter might be helped by watching how it's done in a video walkthrough. Peter, try checking out this video here - the mime sequence starts around 18:50. This shows you the successful attempt. If you back up the video a bit, you will see his initial unsuccessful attempts because he allowed another person to get too close to the mime. This will give you a good idea of what you need to do.

Hi team. I’m sorry but getting frustrated so give up on me if you must. I have the 2 files mentioned by Draclvr and I have on desktop the file containing my original saves. I copied 3 files from gks to my original saves file and they appeared there. But—- didn’t show up in the actual game- Only my original saves. Hope you understand this garble but please tell me if I have missed something—
I haven’t the heart yet to have another go at the mime but will when I have the strength and thanks for the video Peter

One thing you have to make sure of is that there isn't already a file of the same name as the one you downloaded. For instance, if I already have a GKSG.002 save file in the Saves folder, I will need to delete it before I move the GKSG.002 file I have downloaded.

Tks Draclvr. I think I’ll delete what I have done and start again. The only saves shown in the original saves folder are those I made previously. I am sure I have not duplicated. Must have gone wrong somewhere. I’ll try again and let you know- Thanks for your patience- Peter
