If it's a Steam game I think you follow these steps: EDIT: See my next post about it being a Steam game.
Click on the Windows button, find Windows System on the list; click the folder or arrow on the right and go down a little bit to This PC. Click This PC and you should see your Drives on there. Double lick the Drive that your games are installed on; double click the Steam Library folder; double the Steamapps folder and the doble click the Common folder. You should see your list of games. Double click the game; right click the game .exe icon and Send to desktop to create shortcut.
I hope this info is helpful but even more, I hope Draclvr comes along with a one or two step solution.

Trust me, oldbroad, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it! Especially when I'm so busy right now with German guests for 6 weeks!
A shorter way - if this is a Steam game - is to find Steam in your Start menu. Start menu items are listed alphabetically when you click on the white Windows icon in the lower left. Open Steam, find your game, right click and select "add to desktop."

So, did you play the game in 2020 from Steam? I'm with oldbroad - don't know what to offer here!

I don't know how useful this might be in your situation, but I found an article here explaining how to recover deleted Steam files including saves. It also gives a few reasons on why this might occur in the first place.

Peter, that is ALWAYS the question when we have issues with games! I don't know many Gameboomers who don't have stacks of unplayed games!
