Good Morning everyone! We all have funny cat stories...especially about Christmas trees and yes cats rule! Starting tomorrow I will be cat sitting for my neighbor's cat for a few days. Her cat is a British shorthair named Pudsey. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready! Enjoy your day! Gerry

I'm feeding my new neighbour's two cats for a week. One of them, a big, scared-looking male, is only the fourth cat I've ever met that didn't like me. Normally they can't leave me alone; even cats with a reputation for being super-shy will come over to me. I worry about these two cats, though. Their people leave them alone for a couple of days at a time and I don't think they get enough mental and physical stimulation. I don't think the little guy leaves the top of the cat condo except when he eats. Next time I go over I'm taking a feather wand with me.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Marian, now THAT is the truth! Luckily I don't have to walk my 110 pound Bloodhound and pick up after her! She is a good girl and goes down in the pasture!

Hi Everyone, long time no talk, I know. Weather here is unusually mild. We've had a little snow but nothing compared to what we're used to for this time of year. I wish it would get a little colder to kill some of the germs, but I don't mind not having snow or ice. Well, I finally changed sleep clinics. My old one decided to close on Fridays. If I needed something, it had to wait until Monday. They kept changing docs on me to the point where I they didn't even know themselves for a while. It became a problem since one of my meds needs authorization every month. So, it became my responsibility to 'catch' that assistant for approval. Not only that but their communication system is lousy. So I finally told myself, that's enough of this [blip]! I used other words but you get my drift I made an appt with the sleep doctor at the clinic affiliated with the health system of a nearby hospital. He listened to my 20+ yr history and said I'd need another sleep test. I wasn't happy but not surprised. I had been told that I probably need to switch to a machine that would allow more air than I am getting now. My test will be on 12/22 of this year. It's not painful but uncomfortable. I'll begin sleeping without a mask, which is nearly impossible for me. But it establishes a baseline, then they'll increase the air until they determine what I need. Once that is established, I'm hoping I'll start feeling better. Right now I have very little energy and don't want to go anywhere. I don't even have energy to do much around my home. Everything is an effort. I miss my little dog, but am thinking of getting something, perhaps a cat. One of my friends talked to me about what kind to get, but it'll have to wait until next year.
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

butterflybabe, that all sounds exhausting. I hope it all turns out well.
Cats are very good companions. I'd be lost without my two.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

butterflybabe, sounds like it was well past time to get a new sleep clinic! It doesn't sound like there were serving your needs very well. Hope the new one helps!
You might be able to get a senior cat... sometimes they are so hard to adopt out. Then you wouldn't have to live through the kitty psycho years! Check some of the local rescues.

Good Friday Morning everyone! Taintedfury how are you feeling...any plans for today? Butterflybabe I hope your "sleep" test goes well on the22nd. If you decide to adopt a cat Draclvr's suggestion of a senior cat is an excellent idea. They are calmer and do not need constant "watching"! Hagatha I'm also cat sitting over the weekend for a neighbor. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready to start your day...enjoy! Gerry

Hubby just getting over Influenza A. He was down and out with extreme body aches, fever etc. for 24 hours. Miserable stuff.
Cold sunny day here which is perfect for my cooking marathon. I am catering a breakfast for 35 people at Longmeadow, the horse rescue tomorrow morning. I do all the prep work today, so all I have to do it cook everything tomorrow morning. Doing 5 breakfast casseroles - two Cracker Barrel hash browns, one Cowgirl with ham, bacon, hash browns, peppers, onions, cheese and one blueberry French toast. Then I will mix up 3 batches of my scrambled eggs made with milk, sour cream, green onions and butter. Hubby saved me 7 dozen eggs from our chickens, so I'll use those. Everyone says they taste so much better than store eggs. Later tonight, I'm going to get out the bread machine and make 2 batches of my mom's pecan cinnamon rolls. I already made the sausage gravy for the biscuits yesterday. Also making some cooked apples made with cinnamon red hots and sugar. This is supposed to be a "thank you" brunch for all the volunteers.

Draclvr, that sounds like a good idea! Hadn't thought about the relative 'ease' of adjusting to an older cat. Shouldn't have shared about the 'clement' weather; woke to snow this morning. Was fixing breakfast when I looked out my kitchen weather and was shocked. Stopped everything I was doing, put on my coat and brought my car into the garage. When the weather is good I leave it out cause there isn't much room. But when the weather is bad I have to take it out and put it back to take the garbage out. Association doesn't allow garbage cans to be left outside. They have to be in the garage. Thanksgiving was ok. Nobody to share it with, but at least I'm sane . Ordered breakfast of crepes, bacon and coffee, and it was barely warm. First time that's happened and I let them know. Then I ordered lunch and was told there was a problem with the delivery service. So I made myself a sandwich. Next I learned from the company I get my meals from the delivery was going to be late, like 2-3 days late. Did grocery shopping on line. My meals, thank goodness arrived on Friday and were ok, the ice hadn't melted. Have a good day!

butterflybabe,
Last fall we adopted a 9-year old cat, Dude, to be a companion for my Willow. The SPCA were thrilled that he was adopted immediately after he arrived, as the older cats sometimes linger for months, and we got a sweet, gentle somewhat shy boy who was quite willing to make friends with Willow. They are my constant companions, following me around the house, sitting with me in the evening when I watch TV, and amusing me with their antics when they play together. It's so worth it.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, I can imagine how much fun they are. Years back, we got Buddy just a little while after our oldest one died. He was about 2 yrs old, the other one was about 10 and already dealing with arthritis, becoming a bit ornery. We'd be out in our backyard, Buddy would nag her by poking her with his snout. She finally got mad at him, barked and chased him around the yard. I swear he added a year onto her life just from the exercise she got chasing him and fighting with him. No blood was shed but they 'looked' pretty nasty when they went at it. But his tail kept wagging, while she just sneered at him. It really was riot.
Now that you and Drac have given me that idea, I'm looking forward to it, but I need to get my sleep test out of the way first. Maybe sometime after the new year, unless something else happens in the meanwhile.

Woke up very early this morning to a major snowfall but now it's turning to rain, which means that the roads will be horrible. I think it's going to be another hibernation weekend.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Your weather sounds miserable, hagatha. Hibernation sounds like the only reasonable thing to do!
Just got back from serving the brunch at the horse rescue. Everything turned out great and it was all SO tasty! But after 10 hours of cooking yesterday and 2 hours this morning, my feet hurt!
