Hi there
My wife and I are heading north for May and would welcome some ongoing advice as we make our plans. Obviously the interweb is a great source of info but some things might be easier answered by simply asking people who know
I promise not to ask questions like "what should we do" or "where should we go" but if something comes to mind that we shouldn't miss in a particular bit of our travels (and I love Atlas Obscura and subterranean tunnels) please let me know.
Right now we would welcome feedback on two items.
The first is with respect to getting around. We want to drive as little as possible so will be looking to trains and buses, and the ferry to Ireland. For long trips (Bath to Bangor say) is it cheaper to book in advance or not? The exchange rate on our $ sucks so while we like the flexibility of just showing up when we want to move on, if booking in advance is significantly cheaper then we are happy to lock in dates for long travel.
The other is that we want to walk some of the Hadrians Wall trails. At this stage we are thinking of basing ourselves somewhere strategic, and going out and back West one day, and out and back East the next. We will probably have a car for that so we are looking for any suggestions about where to base ourselves (towns and villages) to appreciate the best trails.
Thanks for anything and everything in advance.
Steve
