No questions at the moment. Just looking into the future as support for Windows 10 will come to an end in just over a year and I know that time will go fast. I decided to take a quick look at eCollege PC and quick it was. I never much worried about looking at the mother boards in the past, just video cards and hard drive space, and then last time, also power supplies, memory, and fans. But I remember some conversation from back then about mother boards and I know that will be an issue to look at this time around. All I saw today was wi-fi. That was enough to depress me and make me stop looking. And this is why I need to start looking early. It takes me forever to look at this kind of stuff. It was much more fun buying my first and second computers when I didn't know a darn thing about them, and, I ended up with two very nice computers! laugh

It is indeed dizzying to look at all that stuff! However, all modern motherboards have the hardware required to run Windows 11. They don't mention the TPM 2.0, but if they didn't have it you wouldn't be able to select Windows 11 as your OS.

Mostly, just look at the connections on a motherboard - will it have enough USB ports etc. Most of them have built in WiFi, but that doesn't mean you have to use it. You can still plug one in directly with an ethernet cable. You can have just as much fun this time, so start looking and playing and don't worry about the motherboard! As always, all you have to do is sent Mike an email and he will tell you what you need to know!

Yes, it's just the internet part I'm concerned with. Hate to spend $2,000+ on a computer and not be able to get to the internet! I don't know much about the other connections either but don't anticipate any problems with those. I will definitely be contacting Mike when the time comes.

You will use the same method to connect to the internet that you do now, so no worries!

Ob, also I am reading that Windows 12 is coming up late 2024/early 2025 according to some online sites. Something to think about.

Thanks Marian! I needed that to add to my list, LOL! But, seriously, I would rather that it comes out before I make a purchase, rather than just after, so I can go that route if I want!

Well, it's not carved in stone as yet, that Windows 12 will be that soon, but by January 2025 we will probably know for sure. And it would definitely give you an edge - that is what I was thinking, too. smile
