Hello everyone, I'm an old time member but have not posted in quite awhile. I recently retired from my job and am now loading up and playing some of my old games, and am very much enjoying it. I'm playing Morpheus, which is an oldie but a goody. I'm playing it on Windows XP using Win95 compatibility mode. The game is running flawlessly, however, I seem to be stuck. I'm in Grace Thurman's dream. I'm in the caves where I'm supposed to see a monkey appear in one of the caves so I can take the monkey idol or whatever it is back to the cemetery. I've read hints that said which order of the caves to click on to get the monkey to appear, and I've even watched the walkthrough video on YouTube so I know what it is I'm looking for. But no matter what, I can't get the monkey to appear. I've downloaded and installed the one patch I know exists for the game, but still can't get the monkey to appear.

I'm hoping that someone on here may remember this game and have experienced the same thing, and may have a clue or some advice as to what I need to do.

Thanks!

Nice to see you here and congratulations on your retirement! smile

If you have looked at written walkthroughs and also looked at YouTube, we will need to wait until someone comes along who remembers the details of this game better than I do. Hopefully someone will be able to help.

Did you also check the UHS hints here?

If I find out anything else about this, I will also post here.

Hi, mbc841 and welcome back! We have two walkthroughs here at MM and one of them says...

Quote
Now turn around and enter the structure - you will find yourself below ground, with 6 caves leading off in different directions in front of you. Enter the caves randomly until you encounter a screaming gorilla in one of them (my wife actually still has nightmares about this gorilla after two years).

But if you've done all this, I guess as Marian says, waiting for someone who has played the game and remembers this part is your best bet!

Thanks guys! Yes I’ve read the UHS and other walkthroughs - I’m entering all the caves but just can’t seem to trigger the screaming gorilla video to progress further.

How frustrating! I know nothing about the game, but can you load an earlier save? Is there some minor thing you didn't do prior to this point that is needed to trigger the gorilla?

I even tried a search on Morpheus No Screaming Gorilla with no luck!

I do not know if you use Facebook, but this page here is that of the developer - he even posted on GameBoomers years ago. Not sure if he even checks his Facebook messages or not, but you could try contacting him there via message.

I played Morpheus a long time ago and really liked it. One of my Favorites. I can't help you get out of this dream but this video walkthrough might be able to if it is not the one you have already watched. All parts are on the right. Parts 11 and 12 is where you are having a problem I believe

One way or another I hope you get it straightened out and can continue on with it

Check out this walkthrough . Scroll all the way down and then scroll up a bit. You will find "Grace Thermon's Stateroom Puzzle". Right after that you will see "Grace Thermon's Dreamworld". I don't know if this walkthrough will be any different from the walkthrough/s you have already checked out but it might explain in a different way that will get you out of her dream

Thanks everyone for all your help. As it turns out - the only thing that worked was I had to uncheck "Compatibility Mode" in properties of the game start file, and just play it regularly under WinXP and then when I loaded my game, and went into the caves, the monkey appeared. Easy as pie. Thanks again!! smile

I have finished the game, and thoroughly enjoyed it. They sure don't make adventure games like this anymore!!!! smile smile

Thank you so much for letting us know, mbc! That is a somewhat odd fix, but whatever works. So, what's next on the play list?

I'm just starting Post Mortem - an old game that - believe it or not - I've never played before. I'm also playing the Nancy Drew games starting with game number one. I'm currently up to Nancy Drew game number 6 - the Scarlet Hand. I've never played that before either.

Over the years I've bought up every adventure game I could - yes, I have BAAGS, and so now I've got a whole slew of games I've never played before so I am enjoying them for the first time. smile smile

Of course - I've long since played all the famous classics, the entire Myst series, the Syberia series, The Longest Journey, Shivers 1 and 2, all of the Gabrial Knight games, Lighthouse, Phantasmagoria 1 and 2, just about all of the famous classics. But many I've got in my collection, but never played, including MOST of the Nancy Drew games.

mbc841, I have a similar situation as you but I haven't played any of the really old, old classics. The "famous classics" you listed, I've played only the first 3 series not the last 4. As for Nancy Drew, I've only played through #21, one time each. I feel like restarting the series sometimes but feel like I should finish it first. laugh

Have fun!
