Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.

12 is the intro from Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie, and I think that was a Thanksgiving party.
That and this are my favourites by Arlo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYjOMIki6qs

Good call, Lex! bravo

Agreed - City of New Orleans is my favourite Guthrie track - got it on the "Hobo's Lullaby" album praise

In the late 1960s I saw Arlo Guthrie perform at Fordham University along with the Chambers Brothers and the Union Gap. Guthrie's version of Alice's Restaurant was not the one on the album. I remember it made me laugh, but I can't recall the lyrics anymore.

The film was a quite amusing and undemanding watch, and I recall Joni Mitchell singing at Woody Guthrie's funeral as being quite a poignant sequence (although I cannot now remember which song). In suspect that the title track may have developed and changed over time in terms of the shaggy dog story content about fly tipping and draft dodging...!
