Trying to see if I might be able to squeak out the Riven Demo with my graphics card that doesn't meet the minimum specks for the game.

Tried installing the Demo and uninstalling it several times but always get this message and a black screen...

Quote
Warning: Known issues with graphic driver

The installed version of the NVIDIA graphics driver has known issues in D3D12. Please install the latest driver

NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 Ti
Installed driver 475.06 (the latest)
Minimum required: 527.27

II have squeaked by with more recent games with this graphics card even tough it wasn't up to minimum specks but knowing that all games might not work I am wondering if I could stretch it once again. The driver I have is the highest for the GTX 660 Ti and the warning mentions a minimum NVIDIA driver would need to be the 527.27. On this Driver Page they list that a 527.37 driver is compatible with the GTX 750Ti.........is it possible to install a driver over what is called for or am I just hoping for a miracle and should just buy a bigger and badder new card? Or just a card to eek me through to when I have to buy a new computer because mine does not meet the requirements for Windows 11 when I can have installed a super graphics card. Any help , suggestions or sympathy is appreciated. lol

No help from me, only sympathy.

Since you are going to need a new computer for Windows 11, why not just start moving in that direction a little sooner than you might have? I've already made a small attempt towards it but mostly I've just been worried about WHERE I'm going to be able to put it, so haven't gotten too far yet.

I will leave it to the techies to determine if your getting a beefier video card would also require a better power supply.

And, just to confuse the issue, Windows 12 will could be released by the end of the year, or (depending upon which article you read), sometime next year. Something else to consider when making a decision, maybe.

Oh geesh....I didn't even realize that Windows 11 released let alone 12 just around the corner. Might you happen to know when Win 10 will no longer be supported?

Right now they are saying that Windows 10 support will end on October 14, 2025.

We have had Windows 11 on one of our computers now for over a year. Time flies!

Sorry I was gone all day.

Windows support is over on October 14, 2025. All the Windows 12 information is still just rumors, but it appears likely that it will happen. From what I can find out, it will be more of an upgrade to Windows 11. But again, nothing definitive.

I definitely wouldn't recommend spending money on a better video card in this older computer. For one thing, they are astronomically expensive! And as Marian mentions, you might have to replace the power supply too. Personally, I would wander over to eCollegePC and see what it would take to put together a Windows 11 computer with a better video card.

wave Hello Miss Draclvr...how are the tomato's doing? Wow...after reading your suggestion I had to look up when you recommended this current build from eCollegePC because I could not remember the fellows name who owns it and...tomorrow June 16th, it will be 11 years since I have had this build...well worth the money but wow...it doesn't seem that long. What was his name again?.

I have 96 beautiful tomatoes this year, Greyfuss!

Mike is the name of the guy who owns eCollegePC. I am amazed that it has been 11 years since you got that computer! I'd say you really got your money's worth!
