Good Monday morning! Coffee, I need coffee. Ah, I smell the DDWAB!

After a beautiful weekend, it's a dreary rainy morning. Hurricane Beryl is supposed to affect our weather all week. The Germans think it's a good week for shopping!

We did steaks last night for step-daughter and her SO and our grandson showed up too. After the marathon of cooking, my kitchen floors need a good mopping!

I have a friend coming from Winnipeg this week, so today will be a bustle getting the house clean and get some actual food in the house. I also have to make a reconnaissance run to the foot ferry terminal to make sure I know where it is. Last time I tried to go there I got stymied by road works and gave up. Apparently it's tucked away down a private road, so I'll just keep trying until I find it.

Nanaimo is an ugly city with little to recommend it, but I do feel like I need to start exploring it more. So far I've just been to all of the malls that line the highway going north from the main BC Ferries terminal, and I've been familiar with that part of the highway since 1982, when we first went salmon fishing in Campbell River. There is a small downtown core that I could explore if I could figure out where to park!

It's going to be another hot day. I'm finding that turning my heat pump on for about two hours in the late afternoon cools the house down really nicely. So far we haven't been given any watering restrictions, but I'm sure that's coming soon.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Fogfighter, Connie, Draclvr, soot, hagatha and all! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! wave

Another hot humid day expected here. My weather station at one point yesterday showed the temperature at 95 degrees with a "feels" like temp of 105! Oppressively humid and buggy! I did get a chance early to take a short walk with a friend and neighbor.

Hope you all have a cool day! wave

Greetings one and all! We are having unseasonably cold weather, to the extent that we even lit our woodturning stove on 1st July, about a week after enjoying one sunny warm day which may have been all the summer we will see, and now we are back to fairly mild wet weather which is about our most common experience...

And here is an amusing bit of rubbish you may have seen before, but which was new to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYqfVE-fykk catrub

Good morning everyone!

Great to start the day with DDWAB & zero calorie DDB. Much appreciated.
Over here decent 22 Celsius. Mr Rain is dropping in now and then but not overdoing it.
There are some tourists strolling around in the area. I hope they are having a good time.

Happy Tuesday Gameboomers wave

Good morning everyone; well, we are in a heat wave here in Edmonton Alberta. Today it will be 95f & tomorrow going up to 98f. That is really hot for central Alberta. Enjoy your day & stay cool everyone.

Lex, that was hilarious, and it's exactly how I am with the whole metric versus imperial measurement mix-up. I was raised on imperial and metric is largely guesswork for me.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning all: another rainy day here.

Yesterday's humour was typically American from a British point of view, and this one may be too British for some of you on the other side of the pond, but hopefully it may raise a smile catrub

Horse Torque.
There's a bloke driving down a country road in his truck, when it coughs and splutters then the engine dies. He pulls over to the side near a paddock.
He climbs out and lifts the bonnet and is staring at the engine when a voice behind him says " It's the injector pump."
He spins around to see who was there.
Not a soul to be seen except for two draught horses watching from the paddock.
He thinks he has been hearing things , when one of the horses says " I told you , it's the injector pump."
Needless to say he is flabbergasted and says to the horse " How do you know that , and , and how are you speaking to me".
Horse says " Don't worry about that. Just walk into to town, it's about two kilometers in that direction and see Bob the mechanic at the servo,
and tell him you need a seal kit for a 1979 model Acco diesel injector pump."
The bloke is stunned but starts off towards town.
He arrives at the servo and asks for Bob the mechanic.
Bob comes out and says" How can I help you?"
Bloke says " I've broken down just outside of town and I've been told that I need a seal kit for a 1979 Acco diesel injector pump. "
Bob says " Who told you that ?"
Bloke looks a bit sheepish and eventually told Bob it was a horse in a paddock.
Much to his surprise , Bob said "And just what colour was this horse."
Bloke said " It was a big grey draught horse".
Bob said " Well that's alright then.
Bloke says " What do you mean, that's alright then ?"
Bob says " Had you told me it was the brown draught horse, I wouldn't have believed it because he knows bugger all about diesels."

Good Wednesday morning! Lex, that made me laugh. I DO love British humor!

The remnants of Hurrican Beryl parked over us all day yesterday. Hubby is going down to the end of the driveway to check the rain gauge - I suspect it will be at least 2 more inches, maybe more. And that's on top of the 7 inches we got last week.

I have to replace my large hummingbird porch which was built 30 years ago and is starting to disintegrate. I have signed a contract with a young man just starting out in his own small-job construction business. That means I have to "train" the hummingbirds to use feeders elsewhere, so I have two shepherd's hooks with 4 feeders on them over by my lilac bushes. When the rain let up a little, I filled up all 4 of those feeders - one gallon of sugar water! - and you can see my footprints in the ground because it is so saturated with rain. I have to go dump off the standing water in my large pots of annuals on the pool deck or they will drown!

But Beryl has moved on and the sun is out today. The Germans even got their 5 KM walk in this morning.

Once again, weeds are my life!

Hi Copper,

I just looked it up online and didn't use the link. I was able to access it that way. Other people had posted the video without restrictions.

Good Wednesday morning Draclvr, Connie, Lex, Gerry and Copper, Judith, Hagatha, Fogfighter, OldBroad, Mad and everyone else who gets the chance to pop in for coffee and treats later this morning or day. Wow Draclvr...that's a lot of rain. A "glitch in the Matrix" ... ha ha, I love it Fogfighter. Have fun at Bingo tonight Connie. Lex, your draught horses story is hilarious! Hot and muggy here too Gerry ... we keep hitting the 105 mark. Copper, you just have to love technology when it's working and not-so-much when it is not! Hagatha, Google is my best friend when seeing metric figures and wondering how far that is :o)

Have a great 'Hump Day' everyone wave

Good morning Draclvr, Connie, Lex, Gerry and Copper, Judith, Hagatha, Dan, OldBroad, Mad and everyone

The DDWAB smells wonderful. I'll throw in a few emergency rations of knäckebröd while we're waiting for the DDB.

I'm still laughing over that Washington video. Over here 20 degrees Celsius, which I you have to believe is fairly pleasant. Ms Cloud seems to have decided to stay for the day. Tonight Mr Rain was visiting briefly.

Happy Thursday Gameboomers

Good Thursday morning. Weather is working itself back up to hot and steamy here too, Gerry. Pushing 100 degrees F next week.

Seems like a good day to continue on with my cleaning in the kitchen. Scrubbed cupboard doors yesterday and had to take a toothbrush to the corners on the floor. With the amount of cooking going on, it's even too much for me as housekeeper of the year I am not. Guenter made his German mini-meatloaves yesterday. It's basically a meatloaf that is formed into patties and fried in a skillet. Guenter is a very good cook, but not such a good "cleaner-upper!" Lots of grease spattered everywhere. Now if my windows would only wash themselves!

It's Thursday! Another busy day of projects monitoring (helping) grandson detailing (deep clean) a car ... unknown concept ... 1st time for him ... basic skill #5 when you're out in the world living on your own. The coffee and bagels are keeping my energy levels up to accomplish the morning task. Next on the docket is washing the car ... believe he's done this before ... we'll find out. Gerry, we were 71 degrees this morning and had a lovely walk; wish the temp would stay there. Draclvr, my son is a fantastic cook...uses a lot of dishes and utensils, but the cooking is 'out of this world.' I don't mind washing dishes to help! I hope it stops raining for you too Connie. Send your temperatures our way Fogfighter!

Happy Thursday everyone. wave

Howdy all, sunshine instead of rain here today but still cold for the time of year courtesy of an airstream from the arctic: no excuse for not getting on with garden tasks after breakfast! blackkitty

Pleasant 22 Celsius here. Apparently other parts of the country get plenty of rain and thunder today.

Whatever weather you have I wish you all a great day.
