Hi.

I've just installed "Sherlock Holmes The Awakened" (the re-mastered version) - using Galaxy - on my Win10 machine. And then played the first few minutes to check it worked.
[Which I'm happy to say it did !! bravo]

However, I managed to create about 5 saves - a mixture of manual and auto saves - when I went to Quit eek
And can't find a way to delete some of them, as I presume I only actually need ONE ?? duh

So some advice would be very welcome, please !!

[Even though I've played a couple of games now that I installed using Galaxy, I'm still not good at using it !! redface]

Thanks.

Mad smile

Are you saving locally or on the GOG servers?? Why do you want to delete them? They allow 200 MB of saves. I would make sure you are saving locally on your computer and you don't have to worry about it.

Disable Cloud Saves

Hi. And thank you for responding, Draclvr.

I've followed those instructions to stop cloud saves.

But I can't see a way to delete the existing saves already made OR even know where to find them .. if they are also on my computer.

If I uninstalled and reinstalled the game would that get rid of them ??

[I've only played a few minutes of the first scene so it wouldn't be a hardship.]

Thanks.

No, reinstalling won't get rid of them. Have you tried searching for the Saved Games folder on your computer? I did a quick search and it appears the saved games for this game are in the AppData folder. Make sure you have "show hidden folders" enabled. Copied and pasted this

Press "Start", then "Run..." or press Win and R keys together
In dialog box type %AppData%\games, press Ok
In opened Explorer window search for the 'sherlock holmes - the awakened - remastered' (this name can differ with your game localization) folder and open it
Open folder 'save.'

I think what you have to do to get rid of the extra saves when playing a game in GOG Galaxy is to switch the game (while it's running) to the background with Alt-Tab and delete the files manually. The trick is to run the game through Galaxy and make sure the files are gone before quitting the game so that Galaxy syncs the files (or rather the lack of files) to the cloud.

And I don't know if it will be the same for you, but I found Galaxy saved games in C>>>Users>>>UserName>>>Saved Games

Hi to you both smile

Thank you, Ladies, but I'm afraid none of your suggestions worked - unless, of course, I didn't do things correctly, which is always definitely possible slapforehead

[And I've also again looked in all the places I've ever found saved games from games I've installed to Win10 in the past.]

So I guess I'll just carry on playing and ignore any excess saved games that happen !!

And thank you very much for trying to help.

Cheers.

Mad yes

So, they weren't in your AppData file? I don't think you need to worry about excess saves anyway!

No, sadly, they weren't.

That's where I looked before I even posted here at Gameboomers - because that's where my Win10 game saves usually go !! rolleyes

[I really dislike not being able to find game saves woozy]

An Update grin

I've discovered that the Sherlock Holmes game I installed via Galaxy was NOT the re-mastered version from 2008 !!
So I uninstalled it and installed the true 2008 re-mastered version. [And not via Galaxy.]

If I find don't like it for any reason I do still have the very first version of this great game - which I really like and have played several times over the years - and I will happily play it again thumbsup

I've played most of the Frogwares Sherlock Holmes games. Some I like more than others.
And I have several Sherlock games by other studios (older games in the main) and again, some I like more than others laugh

Now I'm confused which version you're trying to play.

I think Mad refers to this one. The description says it's the "beautifully remastered edition."

It's confusing because when the original game was released, there was a remastered version of that, which is the one you see in the link.

And then many years later, now there is the current remake/remaster.

I had been under the impression she was trying to play the newest one.

I know about the 3 different ones. I have them all (I think). Not sure what my disc game is. Sorry, no I don't have them all. I have the newest one on my wishlist and then I have downloads from Steam and GOG. the Steam one is the old Remastered one. The GOG is whatever is in your link (I believe also the old Remastered one).

Sorry for the confusion 😯

The one Marian links to IS the “re-mastered” version I currently now have installed
. I downloaded it from my GOG library.

(I also own the disk version of it but I don’t remember where I bought that crazy)

I’m just hoping now, after all the messing about, I can actually find time to PLAY some of the game tomorrow !! lol
