Steam - Overwhelming Positive - 18,500 reviews

I've played the original Silent Hill 2, which is still a great game in its own right, especially if you mod it with the fan-made Enhanced Edition, which was released on Sept-04-2024.

I'm reluctant to buy any game at $70, so I bought from a third-party seller at $55. And yes, it's a great remake as noted by the consensus. The foggy and foreboding exteriors and the dark and creepy interiors are immaculately reproduced with Unreal 5 and ray-tracing graphics, if you have a beefy enough machine to see it. The map layouts, items, and puzzle designs are altered in places, either slightly or majorly, but the game is largely faithfully on the whole, in that it retains many memorable moments from the original game. If this sells well, and very likely so, we may see a remake of Silent Hill 3, which I've also played and liked even more.

As far as it selling and doing well.... so far over a million copies sold. Steam's 18,500 reviews are giving it an Overwhelming Positive - 95%

Silent Hill games are well-known to console players, but not so much so for PC gamers. SH2 and 3 were made for PC but have been out-of-print long ago and are now expensive on Ebay. Silent Hill 4 is available on GOG, but is not as good as the earlier games. The SH2 remake is like the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes. It feels very modern, but has enough memorable moments from the original SH2, so that the original fans like myself feel that this is a pretty faithful remake.
