Fellow GameBoomers!

Testers wanted for the very short text based mini game Dark Vesta I'm dabbling with. Linux or Windows version.

The events takes place on the dwarf planet Vesta. Is about restoring main power by cracking the not so secret code and enter the correct characters in 12 steps. Could very well have been an entry to the Garden of Puzzling delights. But is a program instead. No wordplay or trickery involved but there are some red herrings. I see several differents paths to completing the task.

Any feedback is welcome but main questions are:

Did the program run on your system?
Did you figure out what to do?
Did you finish the game?
How much of a challenge was it?

About the programming: Coded and compiled with Lazarus/Pascal. I managed to compile for Windows and compatibles(ReactOS) and for Linux. Turned out the windows version doesn't run well on XP because of the use of exotic charachters. I have had success to run the game on Linux, ReactOS and Windows 10.

If any daring GameBoomer want to test and comment I'd be happy. Here a link to the my site. It is no cost freeware work in progress.

Dark Vesta Windows version

Very modest system requirements. Very small download size. Runs well on virtual machines. Keyboard is needed.

Here the link to the Linux Version in case any one fancy Linux.

Dark Vesta Linux version

Feel free to download and hopefully enjoy!

Hi fogfighter
The time of year being what it is I won’t have a lot of spare time over the next little while but will certainly download and give it a look when I can.

Thanks Marian and Floatsam.

I hope it will be a fun challenge. It's really pretty short. Could very well be a Garden of Puzzling deligths thingie.
Having paper and pen available may help. You may also have to restart a few times to crack it.
Ideally, all you need is 12 keystrokes to finish the game/challenge. The trick is of course to hit the right keys.

Good luck and enjoy!

Just finished smile
It ran perfectly fine; you can check my system specs on a recent review if you need a reference point.
I will need to go back and interrogate the puzzle a bit more closely in order to say I solved it (as opposed to completed it). It took me about 10-15 minutes.
It did make me want to go back to pick it apart further which I think is a positive sign. I certainly need to get to the bottom of those ants and elephants think
Happy to share more thoughts. Just PM me thumbsup

Well done Floatsam and thanks for the testing.

I'm glad it ran fine on 64 bit Windows which I think is the most common OS currently. Your computer system is pretty good, I'd say. Much more powerful than mine.

The gameplay seems to have went as well as I hoped. No wonder a true GameBoomer finished it quickly. Still impressive.
Further interrogation is an excellent idea. Though the game really is very short and limited and now completed there is a bit more to find out about the Vesta situation. Though those ants and elephants were herrings. I'm afraid you won't learn anything more about them regardless how much you interrogate.

It might have ended up being a little longer than that. I started again each of the few times I played, so I had some of the benefit of what I had learned before.
