I can't play it without getting really ill feeling. Some of those type of games I can play and some I can't. This is a big NO and it irritates me!

No wonder! That would be awful... have you ever tried taking a motion sickness med such as Dramamine first?

No. I've often wondered if it would work but I'm really not into taking things.

I'm not either. Well, except for my blood pressure meds and my blood thinner! I'd be dead without them.

Finally starting Voodoo Detective. Does the game save on exit? I don't see a "save" option.

Ob, Voodoo Detective only allows one save per playthrough, and is frequently autosaving. You cannot create manual saves. Initially I thought I might be bothered by this but it all worked just fine for me and I did not miss manual saves.

How can you tell when it's autosaving? I haven't noticed anything.

I don't think I ever noticed that either, but it never seemed to matter.

I just finished Voodoo Detective. It was alright but I didn't really care for the dying and the fighting parts. Not sure yet what's next. Possibly Carol Reed when it comes out or possibly I will feel like starting something before I am able to get that.

Last month a few people mentioned the game Face Noir in a thread started by Laurette so I decided to try to play it. I'm a little over an hour into it. So far, so good but I don't like the way some of the things work, such as turning a radio dial by moving my mouse around. It gets frustrating. Hopefully, it will get easier to manage as I go along.

I have finished Face Noir. It was a good game except for that lousy mouse movement required for the puzzling (and that it was never completed).

Next up, Carol Reed - Murder Malady!

I'm glad that you liked Face Noir, oldbroad, especially since you probably refer to the thread where I brought it up! I don't remember any particular problems with mouse movement, except for a scene where you had to assemble a doll. I had to ask my wife for help for that scene.

I have a feeling that your next game will be a hit too. lol

I am certain my next game will be a hit too, Mikael! lol

Regarding the mouse movement puzzling, turning radio dials, turning a safe dial, and lock picking. Can't remember what else. I did most of the lock picking but skipped the last two, though I did attempt them. I do not have the space to move my mouse all around to the left and right and up and down. It even caused me to lose some little sticky piece on the bottom of my mouse. For the safe, I was able only to get the first two numbers and then I would run into trouble so I looked at the solution in a walkthrough so I could focus on the correct areas and try to stop the mouse where it needed to be stopped. The doll puzzle was a bit frustrating but not nearly as bad for me as those other things.

And, thanks Draclvr! I'm sure I will!

I have finally finished Carol Reed: Murder Malady. Another good game, Mikael, but sad. I did leave a question on the hints board.

Not sure yet what's up next.

I'm glad that you liked my game, oldbroad!

I'm catching up with some oldies at the moment, and currently play Secret Files: Tunguska. I absolutely LOVE it. I honestly wasn't expecting that much from this game, but I find it almost impeccable. The puzzles are almost always complex, and requires use of multiple inventory objects, but they can always be solved with a little patience and quite a lot of pixel hunting (of which both suit me just fine). And they're never illogical, albeit far-fetched at times, but that's OK, and most of the times just funny. I constantly get stuck, but always get that rewarding feeling of fulfilment when I manage to proceed. The story arc is very run-of-the-mill, and I could have written it myself after two bottles of wine, but the dialogue is exceptionally well-written and often hilarious. Yesterday, I laughed out loud at this line exchange:

- I've given you my promise as a politician.
- Yes, but can you help me anyway?
And the best of all: There are 3 sequels to this game. yay

I remember playing that series in 2019. I don't remember specifics but just took a look at screenshots for Tunguska and they do bring back some gameplay memories. I know I did like the games and have them from both Steam and GOG (as well as some on disc). Hopefully, you will love all of them!

I am going to attempt to play Last Half of Darkness next but if it has too much action for me I may also start something else. You can play in "normal" or "easy" mode which apparently is about the inventory, either trying to find the right item in your inventory or having it automatically usable if it is already in your inventory. I think I will go with "easy" mode which possibly may prove less stressful (according to Bill).

I was one of the happy winners of Last Half of Darkness here a couple of days ago. I've started up the game, but unfortunately, it seems a little buggy. It's crashed twice, and gamepad support doesn't work.

And I was the other happy winner! I did open the game up last night but didn't attempt to play it yet. I had to question about the modes and hope to start it tonight or tomorrow.

Let us know how it goes. I hope that that the action scenes aren't too difficult.

I am about 3 hours in Mikael and so far they haven't been terribly difficult but they do happen reasonably regularly. I am tending to explore with my gun permanently drawn just in case. If you die though you just respawn, and with your inventory intact. Its nothing like an FPS though, and dexterity hasn't been an element (more like just see it coming and shoot it). I am enjoying it immensely so don't let the action put you off.

I've played for about 50 minutes and am still having a little trouble knowing what I'm supposed to be doing. I, too, am exploring with my gun drawn but the red line in the right corner? I don't really know what that means. I know it is something about the gun because the numbers do change when I reload but the line seems to stay there when I let go of the gun also (or maybe I am still holding the gun but also something else? Like I said, I'm a little confused about how to play the game right now.

I only found one set of ammo so far and no flashlight batteries. I found a few coins and a few diary pages and have been killed twice so far. The area is so huge with so many directions and doors to go in that I'm sure I will be missing things.

I haven't run into any glitches or crashes but last night I tried to open the door to go inside and got killed and I don't think the door was open. When I went in today the door was wide open. I got a little dizzy last night when I was trying to run away from whatever was chasing me but I seem to be okay when I'm just exploring and not moving too fast, so yay for that!

The red line is your health oldbroad. You will see it decline if you get walloped. You can restore it with elixirs you might find.
Not sure about the door closed/open issue but the game seems to remember the things you had done before you were killed, so perhaps you opened the door which then got you killed but the door now remains open. You will have noticed too that you commence again at the entry point to the area you are in, not the exact place you were when you exited.
You will find more ammo - it tends to be in larger amounts but in less locations (as opposed to a few bullets all over the place). I have had just over 100 for the last couple of hours.
The area certainly is big and very open. I reckon just keep looking, note what needs to be done when you find something as well as where it is. A few times I haven't remembered where things were that needed doing.
To date I have found the feedback from the game as to what I might do next rather good. You will also find at some stage you have an inventory item called notes which gets added to as you find crucial bits of information (you will get a little scribbly sound and the icon appearing mid-right) so check back there from time to time.
And you may also discover a hint system.
Hope that helps, and call out if you need anything else.
