Gothic 1 Remake Demo is also running on Steam's Next Fest Trail. I don't know if this demo just came out on Next Fest or it has been around for a bit. My experience with Next Fest demo releases is some get removed when Next Fest ends and are no longer playable even when installed on your computer. To be on the safe side you might want to get it started. As for GOG.....I don't know if removed does the demo get removed from GOG as well making it no longer playable. Next Fest ends March 3rd

EDIT: This news clip states Gothic 1 Remake Demo – Nyras Prologue will be available to everyone during Steam Next Fest, running from February 24 to March 3. I guess we will find out

It's never too late!

The Gothic Series is one where I was able to actually finish the games .. a rare-ish achievement in RPG playing for me !! But I really enjoyed them. And played some more than once.

However, with more “modern” combat techniques, I might not be able to manage this new version whistle

Orion, I noticed with GOG that sometimes demos get removed and sometimes they don't - and I am not sure about this one.

I guess we will have to check it out and see for ourselves, Mad. smile

Mad, I absolutely loved the Gothic games, too. I was never able to finish the third one. I started it three times and got a long way in, but all three times technical issues forced the game to end. But the first two remain among my favourite games of all time.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

The third one was actually my favourite, hagatha, but only one particular version of it.
[I think there was a bug in one of the versions that prevented completion of the game ??]
I'd have to look in my notes to see which as I have different versions of some of the Gothics - that were released at different times.

But I freely admit .... if I'm really, really enjoying an RPG I will utilise God Mode rather than have to give up on it because of my poor fighting skills redface

I haven't played Arcania yet - although I've had it for years.
The version I have is classed as Gothic 4 - but there was controvesy about that !! However, I do intend to play it. I just keep forgetting about it laugh

Thanks Marian!
