Good morning everyone! Pretty warm and windy today! 9 Celsius. Emergency use knäckebröd in the break room. Over here in Europe the time disruption will wait until last sunday of March. Just the add to the confusion. The morons in charge missed yet an opportunity to end the madness. In case anyone missed it I really, really dislike the time changes and think it's a super stupid thing. Happy Thursday GameBoomers!

Good morning Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Space Quest Fan and everyone. Yes indeed SQF, we're closing in on the weekend. Relaxing with a cup of WADDB, knäckebröd, Danish and relaxing music while I Garden this morning. Wish we could get 2 inches of rain Gerry. Yes Fogfighter, I don't care for the time change either...the many 'reasons' for implementation are numerous, different and not relevant. Have fun at Trivia night Connie. Have a wonderful day!

Good Thursday morning! Gerry, I had totally forgotten about the clocks - thanks for the reminder. Every year they say they are going to stop doing this, but nothing ever happens.
That horrid wind finally died down. Gusts up to 60 mph were recorded.
Must run Rumu, my robot vacuum. Even with just one cat in the house, the tumbleweeds are epic. I loathe carpet with pets, so I only have one area rug and I think it's all there! Rumu is named after the robot vacuum in the game.
League bowling tonight.

Good morning everyone.
Fogfighter, my sleep gets disrupted for weeks after the time changes. When I was still working, it affected me badly. BC was going to stop the madness, but it never actually happens.
Not much going on today. I'm waiting for a call from my doctor for my annual prescription renewals. We have a dire shortage of doctors here on the Island and so my doctor in Campbell River agreed to keep me on as his patient. We do most of our consults over the phone now. I think it's great. I don't use up precious time needed for patients who are actually sick.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I'm back (in case you missed me)!
I have been without internet or landline phone service for 2-1/2 days. I finally called today and was on the phone for 2 hours & 10 minutes. The first hour was just holding; the second hour was getting aggravated talking to 4 different people. I had to talk to both the phone people and the internet people even though I have a split line (which to me meant that if my phone line got fixed my internet would be fixed also, but they said no). So, 2 appointments were set up for tomorrow. An hour or so later the doorbell rang about 5 times in a row and there was door knocking (oh, how my brother hates that - used to scare the heck out of the cats too) and it was the phone guy (only here for the phone, not the internet). He climbed up the pole in the alley and 2 squirrels took off, one of which went to the top of the pole where he kept watch over the guy. Well, apparently they had built a nest in the box up there and ruined the wires. So, both phone and internet are working now. I refuse to call them back to cancel the internet appointment for tomorrow, for various reasons.
Lots of catching up for me to do now, so see y'all later!
I hope you all are having a good day!

Welcome back! I was beginning to wonder if you were under the weather, oldbroad! So it was squirrels! I hope they secured the box because squirrels are persistent little creatures!

Gameboomers first Marian, then maybe emails Edit: And of course, Tuesday I finally received an email update (that I couldn't read until now) regarding my ill brother who I have not been able to get hold of. He was moved out of the rehab into another hospital in ICU. His partner is having a bad time dealing with it all. It doesn't seem to be sounding good but I still don't really know what's wrong with him. I don't even think we can go see him as our car doesn't work too well and my (live with) brother isn't too fond of driving too far. According to Google it's only about 18 miles via expressway but the car knocks in the trunk area (shocks or struts or something) and his vision isn't great. I am not very comfortable in the car. He took me to the bank today and that was enough for me to handle.

Since it's so close, do you think you use an Uber or a taxi?

Good Morning Everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready and a special Birthday Cake to celebrate Connie's Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful Happy Birthday Connie! I agree with you all...the time changing really messes up my sleep pattern! Draclvr I'm getting your gusty winds today and the temp has dropped over 30 degrees since yesterday! It will be a bitter cold walk today. How did you bowling go Draclvr? Oldbroad glad you got your phone and internet fixed...Sorry to hear about your brother...hope you get to go see him...maybe his partner can pick you up? Wishing everyone a stress free day! Gerry

Oldbroad, for me 18 miles is just going to town for groceries! But I get it... I don't do Uber either and until you get your car fixed, I wouldn't want to take it very far either. Just seems a shame you won't be able to see your brother again. Perhaps his condition will improve. I sure hope so.

Good morning everyone,
Nothing much going on here. Maybe some shopping.
It was a beautiful clear night last night and I sat outside for a few minutes listening to the Sea Lions barking. It's not the same as hearing waves on the shore, but it is rather charming. I suspect the people with waterfront homes feel differently, though; it's pretty loud.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Happy Friday to you all! I may end up going dark again. My brother said the phone company was back outside this morning looking at that box up on the pole and that they are coming back a little later today to replace it. Drac, my brother wants to just remove that part form the car. He has had it fixed a couple of times already and it annoys him that it keeps breaking. He barely drives anywhere, just to get a paper and groceries mostly, so he doesn't understand the problem. The car is 19 or 20 years old and he doesn't have the money to put anything into it but it will probably be our last car. Not sure what happens then. Have fun at Legoland, connie!

Good afternoon everyone. Enjoyed a cup of WADDB, (left over) knäckebröd and donuts this morning before heading out to run errands, get groceries and pick up Rx refills. Hope you won't go dark too long OldBroad, get the car knock resolved and find a means to visit your brother. Hagatha, I really enjoy the mix of nature's sounds...but haven't expierenced sea lion barking. Have fun at Legoland Connie...will be interested to hear what you enjoyed there. Woo Hoo the weekend's eve is here

Soot, the sea lions really do bark...and stink. We used to boat over to Mittlenatch Island, where there was a huge Steller sea lion haul-out. The noise was deafening. You could hear them miles away on a calm day, and the smell carried almost as far.
The braver and more curious juveniles would come up to the boat and look at us, though it's not good to get too close to them when they're resting on shore -- they spook easily when they're out of the water. Sea lions are sort of the clowns of the seas. We once watched a young Humpback play with a group of young Steller's. It was magical. Another time a group of young Stellers performed what can only be described as a ballet for us, late one evening.
Hearing them reminds me that although I no longer have a home on the ocean, the water is literally a three-minute walk away.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Oldbroad, since I live out in the country I could never be without a vehicle. My little truck is 21 years old, but I say they will pry the keys out of my cold dead hands! So, I take very good care of it keeping up maintenance and fixing anything.
Hagatha, I never thought of sea lions stinking! What great memories...
I'm curious about Legoland too, Connie!

Oldbroad, I hope your telephone and internet issues get resolved. Being out in the country with no communications sounds awful, especially if you have car problems.
Draclvr, much as I loved seeing the sea lions, a full-grown male is a massive and seriously dangerous beast.
We're supposed to be getting another massive rainfall this weekend. It's fortunate because my pond is emptying once again and a good downpour will allow me another week before I have to go out and have a look at it. I think the birds must have pushed stones into the water flow again -- it splashes the water out of the pond and over time the level goes down.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Unfortunately Drac, we don't have the luxury of maintaining things. You would be appalled by all the things here that we have let go, in large part due to money and (also in large part) due to our just not being able to deal with the stuff. We are both bad in different ways and that is not a good combination. And, just for the record, being in the city doesn't necessarily make it easier to be without a vehicle, especially as we have both aged a lot. I want my brother to get the car fixed and hope that he will, but I have no say in it other than that I told him he should. He is just aggravated because this same thing keeps breaking and he doesn't know why. The phone company never did come back and I hope they don't need to for a long, long time. Well, enough downer talk. I do wish I had something upbeat to say but can't think of anything except: I hope you all have a nice weekend!

Welcome to the weekend everyone. Enjoying a cup of WADDB and bagels before I start the day. Hagatha your description of the lion's smells brought back old memories of the ocean's smell for me from my time at the California, Maine and New Hampshire coasts. Corn beef and cabbage sounds marvelous Gerry. So glad to hear you had a wonderful time Connie. That's odd the 'same thing' keeps breaking on the car OldBroad. Can your brother take the car to a different shop? Happy Saturday everyone.
