If you have picked up the valve wheel you have to get to the building to use it. I got killed here too but when I re-loaded I was at a different area on the beach so didn't encounter the monsters again. You don't lose your inventory items. If you picked it up and get killed, you still have it. Use the scroll button on your mouse to check. I got through this game with a lot of help from the developer and other players in the Steam Discussion board. Somebody also posted a video walkthrough there if needed.

Good luck!

Have you been upstairs? Have you been to the basement? Have you gone back outside?

Actually, I should have asked first if you've found the gun. You will need it in all areas of the game.

Yes, all of that. Thanks. I'll have to see if anyone has written a walkthrough to see what I need to do to move along.

There is a video walkthrough at Steam. I wandered a lot and did find a space I missed by looking at the walkthrough.

Thanks, ob. How do I get rid of the attacking monsters? I have bullets but they do me no good without a gun. I'm tired of getting killed often. cry

Off to play some other game, where I'm not killed playing.

Which monsters, where are you at? If you just mean the ghosts or whatever they are that fly at you, I don't think they die (or not often) but mine rats or fire breathing snake thing - there is a strategy of sorts. I need more info or you can find info in the Steam discussion.

But where are you?

Also, do you have any Elixir in your inventory to restore your health? Maybe that will help.

And oldbroad did say you needed the gun before you could do much else. But you said you only had bullets.

Our GameBoomers reviewer, flotsam, reviewed the anniversary edition of the game here. While he liked the game overall, he does talk about the action/shooting. I would have assumed otherwise that the anniversary edition would be much like the original, so I was grateful for the review.

Either I missed that part about having bullets but no gun or it was added on after I read the post.

The gun is found at the beginning of the game, I can't remember exactly where but I believe it is somewhere between the beach and the house entrance. Look around on that path.

The action/shooting part is not really to my liking but having been given information and strategy AND HUGE HELP from Bill updating the game to make some areas easier, I was able to do it so, Marian, I'm sure you could too.

Yes, ob, I am sure I could do it too. I just would have preferred a game without that stuff. Maybe someday.

Marian, you know I would have also! I am glad I was able to play it though.

TLC, not sure why you actually have to restart from the beginning but since you never found the gun, you are pretty much at the beginning anyway. I played in EASY mode which is helpful with the inventory so if you do restart, choose that. You cannot change the mode if you've already started. When you find the gun, carry it at all times. I'm sorry that I didn't mention about the gun in my very first post where you were still at the beach. I guess I figured you would be looking around you as you went along.

You are not the only one who was not fond of that aspect of this game. Onward to something you will actually enjoy! Now, me, I'm ready for a full-on shooter or RPG!
