Escape Room Meets Spooky Cartoon Nostalgia, ‘Riddlewood Manor’ Demo Launches on Steam

Check out the trailer here.

Check out the Demo here.

Quote
Los Angeles, California – April 16, 2025 – Peanut Button invites players into the strange comfort of Riddlewood Manor, a narrative-driven mystery with a taste for the uncanny. This point-and-click horror adventure blends unsettling atmosphere with whimsical nostalgia, recalling the charm of amusement park haunted houses and Saturday morning cartoons. The demo is now available on Steam.

Set in a crumbling manor suspended in time, Riddlewood Manor blends atmospheric puzzles, exploration, and psychological horror with a cozy, nostalgic tone. Its hand-drawn art style evokes the eerie charm of animated classics like Courage the Cowardly Dog, Scooby-Doo, and The Addams Family, creating a world that feels unsettling yet strangely inviting.

ABOUT RIDDLEWOOD MANOR
Step into the shadowy halls of a once-grand mansion where dark secrets lurk behind every door. Solve cleverly twisted puzzles, meet eccentric characters, and piece together the tragic history of the enigmatic Riddlewood family. From preparing unsettling breakfasts with questionable ingredients to crafting séance boards with cryptic clues, each puzzle you solve immerses you deeper into the manor’s macabre narrative.

Explore the mansion's gothic interiors, each room rich with playful terror and dark humor. But remember, don't play with the dolls.

Key Demo Features:

Atmospheric point-and-click exploration in a beautifully eerie, hand-drawn manor.

Inventive puzzles blending whimsy and horror, weaving seamlessly into the narrative.

Memorable characters, from peculiar creatures to sinister spirits.

An engaging blend of nostalgia and uncanny chills, reminiscent of beloved cartoon horrors.

The game does include a few carefully placed jump scares, but players can enable content warnings in the settings to soften those moments. This option allows for a more tailored experience depending on individual comfort levels.

Happy Gaming!

The demo took me about an hour and a half (I didn't use a walkthrough...I'm sure one could zip through it more quickly.) At the end it said the demo is about 15% of the content. I really liked the game...good variety of puzzles and brainteasers, and able to be pondered and figured out without pixel hunting. Highly recommend. There's no reason not to give it a go--it's FREE!

Hi KatieB, I tried the demo, did not play it long since I discovered the you cannot save as you go and it does not save when you exit, there seems to be only save points during the game OR........... did I miss something?

I tried it too. Couldn't get past the doorbell; lost interest.

It's true there are no manual saves. But the game does save itself, generally conveniently before you can die.

I came close to doing the same thing...until I figured out an alternate way to get the door to open safely. That was kind of key to the whole game...if one way doesn't work (or kills you), what's plan B?
