I finished A Golden Wake last night. I liked the story but not all of the puzzling.

Next up will be Silence.

I just finished the 4th and last game of the Secret Files series. All games were equally brilliant. I'm so glad I picked up this series after all these years.

Something more modern. I'm thinking about Rosewater, or maybe trying the Brightstone Mysteries games. They look like (extremely well designed) hidden object games, but seem to be (sort of) casual adventure games. Has anyone else tried them?

While I do have the Brightstone Mysteries games I have not yet played them. I'm pretty certain they are casual adventure or light adventure. They're put out by Cateia Games and I have played a lot of their games and liked all of them.

I don't have Rosewater yet but KatieB posted in the "Rosewater Now Available" thread that the game is "a conversation-driven game". I only mention that because of some earlier comments here about 3 Minutes to Midnight having heavy dialog.

Let us know what you decide and whether you are happy with your choice or not.

I've been convinced to make Call of the Sea my next game. I just need to finish my annual visit to the Darkside. shame As soon as I've completed Mass Effect trilogy and LA Noire I'll be back to normal grin

LOL, aretha. I don't play too many Darkside games but I did TRY LA Noire. I didn't get very far, but I think I might like it if I ever get around to trying it again.

I hope you enjoy Call of the Sea when you get to it!

I just bought The Will of Arthur Flabbington on GOG for $7.19. Not sure when I will be playing it, though. Hopefully soon.

I just started SafeCracker ( 2006 version ) -- I had this one for a very long time but never got around to playing it til now !! Nice game but the Dollar Sign Puzzle is trying my patience.

I love that game. I played it twice, the last time being in 2022 from a Big Fish download on my Windows 7 computer. I had some sound issues with it though. What OS are you playing on?

The Dollar Sign Puzzle is the hardest of the game, in my opinion! I did somehow manage it though and I've no doubt you will too! luck and have fun!!

I finished Silence last night. I can't say I understood the game much but I did enjoy it for the most part.

I think I am going to replay Lost Horizon next.

Hi oldbroad !

I am playing it on my Win 11 PC but in a Virtual Machine ( VM Ware ) running Win 7 -- I use Virtual Machines to run many operating systems like MAC and Linux ! It is part of my Computer Engineer profession.

When I got to that Dollar Sign puzzle, I got frustrated about 30 minutes into it ! My patience wears thin as I got older ! I will go back to it -- just need a break .

I am waiting to pick up House Of Tesla - if it is anything like the House Of DaVinci series, I know it will be great - they were great for me ! You may like them too if you haven't played the yet .

If this is your first shot at Lost Horizon, I know you will love it !! It is one of my all-time favorites !! Savor and enjoy it....one of the best games out there !

Hi sureshot wave

I once had a VM installed on an XP computer but have never attempted it again.

My patience tends to fluctuate depending on the puzzle and game. The worst part of that puzzle is that you cannot save your progress. If you need to get out of it you have to start all over again. Sometimes I will play more than one game at a time (well, I usually have at least a casual game going for sure) so if one game is giving me trouble and I need to take more time with it, I can play the other game. I hope you can get it! Keep us posted!

I have not yet played the House of Da Vinci series but have recently installed the games in the hope of getting to them sooner.

This will be my second time playing Lost Horizon. I think I played it in 2012 or something. I have not played the second game but intend to even though I think it has some action or something not so desirable in it (if my memory of what I heard about it is correct). We'll see. (Not right away but some day anyway.)

I didn't like the 2nd Lost Horizon much -- maybe because the first one was so good !!!

I am going to give that $$$ sign puzzle one more shot today - I could not find any Saved Games for it even on Mystery Manor - so it is now or into the Delete pile it goes ! smashpc

Good luck, but I say if you don't get it today, just leave it to go back to when you feel like a challenge (don't give up on it completely) and start playing something else. I find that sometimes when I back off of a puzzle or game and look at it another time, WHAM! it goes great!

It was good advice to back off -- and I did go back but I get to a point where I had a few moves left ( I think ) but I keep getting tied up again.. I did find the Solution which worked like a charm. It involved 84 clicks !!!
I have the screen shot of the solution if anyone is interested I would be HAPPY to post it or send to you via a PM !! thumbsup

I would have never given up a few years back - but my impatience got the best of me this time. OH WELL - Onward and Forward I guess! lol

Thank you all ! thumbsup

I am looking at my next game -- Incubus: A Ghost Hunter's Tale.. I loaded it and started it -- looks promising ! wave

So glad you were able to at least find a solution. You are going to continue the game aren't you? Even though you are starting Incubus? I really do think that was the hardest puzzle but it is still best to have another game going for when you get stuck. wink

I just loaded up Incubus to see what I am in for and for when I back off a game that gives me "agida" for a while. sick

Sounds good, sureshot thumbsup

I started Lost Horizon last night and made it to Chapter 2 (the plane crash). Even though it has been so long since I played it, a lot is resurfacing in my brain as I go along, a sure sign that it was a good, unforgettable game.
