I am using XP Home. For the last week or so, I am geting this message at the bottom bar "LOW DISK SPACE" "You are running out of disk space on PRESARIO_RP (D:) To free space in this drive by delecting old or unecesary files click here" I had a look at this drive that I did not know I had and the Properties tells me that there is: Used space 3.50 GB Free space 988KB When I do a Explore to see what files are in the disk, I find only 2: Recovery file (It tells me not to touch this) 212KB Last restore point 586MB So what is using this "3.50 USED SPACE?" Any help to solve this mistery, gratefully received

I'm not sure if this is what's happening but when I had a Compaq computer it had 2 partitions, the second partition was used for Compaq's System Save. Unfortunately, as I installed more programs and created more files in the C partition, partition D was no longer large enough to hold the System Save image file. Compaq was never able to tell me how to increase the size of the D partition so I disabled their System Save and just used it for other files. At the time I was running Win98. I no longer have a Compaq computer so it may be something else entirely. Maybe someone that has one could give you more information.

I have taken a big chance and taken the Restore option in the D: drive, it seems that I still have it in the C: drive......I hope. Cheers

You may be able to compress files on C drive and free up some of your space. It takes a little time depending on how many files and how big they are. Since I haven't mastered the CD-RW system on my XP; I've compressed most of the game saves and extraneous files and that help considerably. They're just as accessible as before; they just don't take up so much space. I tend to save everything!!

OK, if there is a file or folder you want to compress... Right click on it and select properties. Halfway down there is a section called attributes and an advanced button. Select advanced and it then gives you the option to compress the data Hugs Tig
