I've finally completed this very interesting and lovely game.
There's tons of things to do here --- for me it was more of an action/adventure game ---geared more toward adventureing than action. I've 100% in all areas and was able to unlock everything --- so if anyone does play this and has questions --- I'm happy to help you.
inferno

PS Many thanks to Rusty and Nickie for your words of encouragement --- now I feel brave enough to finish Draken and Zanzarah.

Fantastic! I'm so glad you had a good time, and because of your joy I have put this game on my have to get list. I sure appreciate you offering your help!
Hope you have fun with the other two as well. I think the sheer beauty of Zanzarah is a real draw. A magical game that I could have lived in.

Hi Inferno, I would like to take you up on your offer of help. I have been all round the castle looking for discovery points and I cant find any more I have about 12000 up to now and seen two reward videos. I feel as if I have looked everywhere and I have only two of the twins parcels. I looked on the forum and someone said they made it to Hogsmeade. I didnt know that it was in.Also what can you do in the Transfiguration court yard with those coloured sybols . they have to be there for a reason I am sure.
Regards
Maggsie

Yes, you'll find that these colors will appear in each of the courtyards. And they do mean something ---.

If you've only been able to unlock the first two green lighted fans, then the points you would have would be somewhere between 260 and 429. --- The maximum point structure is 4,360 + 30 additional points for the 3 O.W.L.S brining the total to 4,390, so you still have much to do.

Let me ask you a question --- When you hit the ESC key in the game you should be taken to the main menu --- toggle down to the Game Information ---> Here you will see a list and the percentages of each thing you've done. This will give you a good idea of where you are in this game and what you still have to do.

Since you mentioned it. Let's start with the areas of Hogwarts grounds: You must get 100% in each of these areas (you can always tell what your present score is in any area by pressing down the "C" key.) Each area has specific things to do in order to gain 100% -- sometimes these things might be intertwined with the game's other mini quests or tasks.

By pressing the tab button you will bring up the Marauder's Map --> press the left directional arrow "<---" This will show you the various areas of Hogwarts and how much you still need to do. Press the left arrow again to clear the map. Press the right directional arrow "--->" for various characters and thier tasks.

Tasks (These will also give you Discovery Points) --> As you gain more points you will open up more in the Room of Rewards, There is no Quidditch this year at Hogwarts --- remember that Umbridge confiscated Harry's broom. -- But there are many "CUPS" to win --- and when you do you will also gain Discovery Points.

Recruit the students into the DA (But this cannot be done until you visit Hogsmeade) -- each one will send you on a task which will help you toward unlocking all of the secrets in the Room of Rewards:

  • Homework Cup
    (Complete the tasks that three teachers will set for you)
  • Level "O" in your all of your O.W.L.'s
  • Ornithology Cup
    (You must find 5 Winged Magical Creatures)
  • Portrait Passwords Cup
    (There are 12)
  • House Ghost Cup
    (You must conjure up each of the four House Ghosts)
  • Character's Cup
    ( There are 56 to meet)
  • Grand Master's Cup
    This is for Wizard Chess (you must beat 2 different House Champions and the Hogwart's Champion)
  • Exploding Snap Cup
    (You must play and win both the Exploding Snap and Exploding Snap Patience Games)
  • Golden Gobstones Cup
    (you must beat all three House Champions plus the Hogwarts Champion three times each)
  • Friend of the Year Cup
  • Smuggler Cup
    (You must find all 12 of Fred and George's parcels
  • Secret Statue Cup
    (You must find all 12 of the hidden chess pieces)
  • Famous Witches and Wizard's Cup
    (You must uncover all 15 of the Witches and Wizard's plaques, examine them and light the pyres in front of the visiable plaques and examine those as well)
  • Nature Trail Cup
    (You must find three sets of footprints of Magical Creatures)
  • Explorer Cup
    (You must accomplish all the tasks and discover all the areas of Hogwarts at 100%)
  • Architecture Cup
    (You must find 12 of the Hogwart's Symbols)
  • Defense Against the Dark Arts Cup
    (You must be able to cast all six "Defensive Spells" in a single encounter)
  • School Pride Cup
    (You must clean and repair all areas of Hogwart's that require it {There are 66 areas} --> This will also give you the most amount of Discovery Points)

On the other side of this room are the magical fans which will unlock various tidbits of the movie and the making of the game.
But to see these you must acquire "Discovery Points" --- These can be gained from small individual discoveries such as cleaning rugs and tapestries -- to sweeping and mopping the floors -- to dusting certain trophies - to reparing urns and Suits of Armor -- to lighting torches and feeding certain birds and scaring away others - to uncovering secret objects, meeting certain characters --- accomplishing certain tasks, winning at gobstones and chess to attaining an "O" Level in your O.W.L.s

There are 15 of them.

here is the point gauage:
1 = 70 points
2 = 260 points
3 = 430 points
4 = 620 points
5 = 830 points
6 = 1,070 points
7 = 1,350 points
8 = 1,660 points
9 = 2,030 points
10 = 2,450 points
11 = 2,960 points
12 = 3,570 points
13 = 4,390 points
14 = will open at the very end of the game if you have 100% in all areas and have a Level "O" in your O.W.L.S
15 = Credits (which is open at the begining of the game.

Going to Hogsmeade is in the first 1/4 of the game depending on whether or not you are following the storyline.

The Transfiguration Courtyard is one of my favorite places. This is where the Twins will teach you your first two defensive spells. But there are many things to do here as well. This is the best place to duel with the Slytherins.

Here is how to get 100% here:

You will need to know two spells for this
Click to reveal..
Wingardium Leviosa and Incendio

Cast WGL on the iron sphere in the center of the courtyard.
Now, I think you have already done this as you mentioned the colored coats of arms around the sphere. Notice also that the colors appear under each of the stone benches. Sort of match don't they? There are eight symbols of four colors each around the sphere and eight benches as well. Go over to the stone bench that has the symbol for Slytherin (green) Cast WGL on it and bring it over to the sphere area where the green Coat of arms are (there are two). Position the bench over one of the green symbols by using your "WSAD" keys or if you changed them (like I did) whichever keys you substituted those for. Once the bench is over the symbol on the ground -- give your mouse a left click and the bench will position itself correctly. Then click once more to break the spell and the bench will fall into place perfectly.

Notice what happens when you place the other bench with the same Green Slytherin symbol to the correct symbol next to the one you have just done. Do this for each of them.

When it is all completed you will see the discovery spheres flying towards Harry. Press the "C" key and you will notice that you have 99% in the Transfiguration Courtyard.

The other 1% will happen when you've learned to cast the "Incendio" spell. If you already know how to do this, have a go at
Click to reveal..

ps --- The Twins parcels are hidden all around the grounds there are 12 of them.

****************************************************

PPS --- To get to Hogsmeade -- follow the storyline.
Your first class is Defense Against the Dark Arts (with Umbridge---yuk) Here, Harry gets detention. Once Harry goes to Detention and then meets up with Hermione and Ron --- they will go to

special book --> you'll learn here that tables come in handy when chasing flying books around. Cast WGL on the quill feathers on the table and don't forget to look for one of the parcels in here as well.

Once this is taken Hermione will suggest to read it somewhere else ---

Myrtle's Bathroom. Here you will learn to cast the Incendio spell. (Now you can light all the lamps and other things as well all around Hogwarts and gain even more Discovery Points)

Phew!!!!!!! Thank you so much Inferno. I am printing your advice and I think I will start over.I finished the game and defeated Lord Voldemort and now I am in Endless day.I must of missed something.I have been wandering all over Hogwarts looking for points, repaired what I could and hung all the portraits up and got all the ghosts. I couldnt get into Hagrids hut, just outside. Found the dragons cage in amoung the trees but couldnt get close but I think I got the points. This is just a super game. At least I havent got to deal with pixies and creepy crawleys this time and bonus, Harry doesn't faint LOL
Thank you again for all the trouble you have gone to.
Kind regards

You don't have to start over, Maggsie. --- If you've done all 4 ghosts then you should also have the "House Ghost Cup" in the Room of Rewards.

You can do all of this during "Endless Day" if you like.

Hagrid's hut is done all in and around his garden -- You don't go inside.

For Hargrid's Hut to get 100% you need to do the following things:

  • See all the three crows on the fence? Go near to each one if the game tells you to press the enter the then do it each time.
  • Those pumpkins are ripe for harvesting. Since you can't get through Hagrid's door ... did you try getting them through the chimney??? Use WGL on each of them (don't forget the ones in the back of the hut.
  • Cast Depulso and Accio on Hagrid's door watch and listen --- you will get Discovery Points and hear Fang barking. He's hungry --- you need to feed him. Find the
    Click to reveal..
    bone in the pumpkin patch
    and cast WGL on it and send it through the
    Click to reveal..
    window
  • There is a
    Click to reveal..
    watering can
    behind Hagrid's hut -- he loves flowers. Maybe you can grow some for him? Four groups will do nicely.
  • Be very observant while in this area in front and behind Hagrid's Hut as well as the trail into the Glen behind the hut. There are
    Click to reveal..
    three sets of footprints
    Harry needs to find --- make sure that you press enter each time if the game tells you to.
  • Don't forget to check the bunches of ferns along the way, Fred and George have hidden surprises there.
    Click to reveal..
    Use Accio for this --- there are five of them, 2 in the Glen, 2 behind Hagrid's Hut and one of the Pumpkins
  • One of the DA needs the Molly Flowers for Potions Class --- 5 groups will do it.
    Click to reveal..
    these are located here -- The Stone Circle -- and on the way to the Owry
  • Did you help Luna feed the Thestrals yet?
  • On the way into the Glen notice the frogs on the right side of the path. There is a small pond there. You must

    Scare away the three frogs
    in this area.

inferno

I can help you with finishing this game. Let's work on the areas together. Just go to the Marauder's Map pull up the areas by pressing the left directional arrow and pick a location where you do not have 100% yet.

Tell me which one it is and I will help you.

inferno

PS --- Did you try what I told you to do in the Transfigurtion Courtyard?

PPS --- Always check your points by pressing the "C" key down --- it will tell you where you are and what percentage you have discovered in that area.

Hi Inferno, Thank you so much for the great hints.
Did the Transfiguration courtyrad. Super! got the four insignia.
Started lighting all the torches forgot about those, didnt know they would give points. LOL. I am on level 8 at the moment.I have loads to do yet I am going over everything. Trying to get the suits of armour standing straight, got all the dungeons ones upright. I have only one 100% and that is the 7th floor. Rest are a mixture from 10% to 73%. I fed Lunas Threstrals and got those molly flowers too.
I am going to go over everything again. I will still do this game again from the start as I missed Hogsmeade area.
Thank you again so much.
I am going to see the film next Wednesday and I am looking forward to that, also the last book is on sale Saturday morning.
I will stand in line to get that too, so I will have a nice week-end ahead of me. LOL.
Thank you again, If I get really stuck I will call on you again.
Kind regards
Maggsie

You are most kindly welcome --- let me know if you need any help
Don't forget that sometimes there are frogs hiding under a few of the urns you've repaired in the corridors in Hogwarts. Hogsmeade is only a cut scene.

PS --- Use Depulso on the suits of Armor 3 times.

Thinking what the game will be like. Phew!!!!!

To get 100% in the Gryffindor Common Room you must do the following:

  • Accio and Depulso Crookshanks
    (Don't worry, you won't hurt the cat.)
  • Speak with all the other students
  • WGL the logs in the basket and put them in the fireplace
  • Speak with and exhust all dialogues with all of the Portraits
  • Accio the cabinet doors and then Depulso them
  • Accio each of the four books in the bookcase under the Portraits so that all four book are in the air at the same time. While they are flying around the room cast Incendio on each of them to set them alight.
  • Free the Snitch from the Portrait
    First move the easy chair out of the way, then move the table under the Seeker's Portrait -- exhust all dialogues. Then go to the other side of the room where all the other Portraits are. Speak with the Sleeping man in the Portrait who has the Snitch.
  • Play and win a game of Chess
  • Catch the Snitch by moving the table (cast Wingardium Leviosa on the table) to the center of the room. Stand on the table. Press the enter key as the snitch slows down and comes to you.
  • Cast Depulso on the Chalkboard --- Cast Accio on the Chalkboard --- Cast Wingardium Leviosa on the Chalkboard. --- Cast Depulso on the chalkboard and then press the enter key.

*********************************************************

At Hagrid's Hut --> the watercan is at the back of the hut.
Cast Wingardium Leviosa on it. Move it only slight in the backyard. Then left click once with your mouse. It will center itself and start to water the ground. The flowers will grow. Do this near the same area 3 more times.

If you only have 70% of the game done you have a lot more to do
Make a list of each area you still need to work on and the percentage done on each --- and I will tell you what you still need to do, if you like.

Nonsense! If I can do it --- so can you. If you are playing this on the PC --- simply press the ESC key while in the game.
This will bring you to the main menu. Now select Options and then toggle down to Controller Configuration . For the Keyboard make sure that the mouse in enabled chose continue and then yes to confirm the change. Now Press the ESC key again and this time choose the Spell List This will show you exactly how to cast a perfect spell. Simply click on the spell you wish to review. Spells are much easier using the mouse than the WASD keys.

Wingardium Leviose when using the mouse is simply holding down the left mouse button and then moving the mouse from left to right. Try it --- use the mouse to guide the object to where you want it and/or use your WASD to guide the object as well --- then press the left mouse button once and the object will position itself correctly. Then press the lsft mouse button once again to break the spell.

I have managed to work out where they are.Got all the chess items and cleaned up nearly all of Hogwarts.Can you help me with a few I am having trouble with. I have placed the table in the common room in lots of different places and sometimes the snitch just goes right through Harry. This has got me beat.The library has me stumped also, could only get the parcel the twins left behind the cupboard nothing else at all!Plus potions absolutly nothing.One more how do I shut the egg up in the prefects bathroom ?and what do I do with the duck LOL Everything else I nearly have.

Hi Inferno!

Well, I won some money at bingo, so I decided to get a Wii, and what should appear in my shopping bag but OotP! I decided to go this way, instead of PC because of the contoller on the Wii, and the wand connection. I haven't started it yet, but plan to shortly. It sounds like the best HP game yet. I guess the last one (GoF) wasn't so good?
Later! Andrea wave

The space dividers in one of the posts on this thread were just a little too long, and made it necessary to scroll from side to side in order to read the posts. Just to make it easier to read I took out about half of the dividers.

Everyone have fun with this game...wave

But of course I will --- I'm happy to do so.

Here is the way I did it (but I will warn you that this takes a lot of patience --- and is quite difficult even in the EASY mode.)

1. As you watch the Snitch --- it will slow down and come to rest at the top of the cupboard near the stairs to the dormatories. Notice the path that it always takes as it returns to the top corner of the cupboard. Place the table at that same path inbetween the cupboard and the sofa. Move Harry on top of the table and as the Snitch slows down on this path to the cupboard start pressing the ENTER key.
Once he does this, Ron will say "Good one, Harry!"

To get 100% in the Library you must do the following:

Click to reveal..

  • Cast Depulso on book cupboard to discover Fred & Georges Parcel.
  • On the long reading table there are two quills. Cast Wingardium Leviosa on them.
  • You must play and win a game of Wizard's Chess with the Hogwarts Chess Champion. (This is worth 56% of the Room) Remember that she will not play with you untill you beat the other two House Champions. One is in the Gryffindor Common Room and the other is in the Great Hall.

Potions

On the table you will see 5 test tubes in a Test Tube rack. Here
you must target each one (use your A and D keys to hightlight each Test Tube in thier turn. Use a different spell for each.
Walk arounf the table so that you are facing the Table --- Snape will be behind Harry as Harry faces the table. From Left to
Right:

  • Test Tube 1 = Incendio
    Test Tube 2 = Accio
    Test Tube 3 = Depulso
    Test Tube 4 = Reparo
    Test Tube 5 = Wingardium Leviosa

In Easy Mode you can do this in any order.

AH yes --- The Prefect's Bathroom.

To get 100% in the Prefect's Bathroom you must quiet the EGG.
Do you remember The Goblet of Fire? What did Harry do there in the Prefect's Bathroom?

Click to reveal..

  • Cast Depulso on third stall to get the Triwizard Egg
    (It will start to scream)
  • Cast Accio on tub so that it fills with water
  • Cast Wingardium Leviosa on the Egg and place it it the tub with water.

You can put the duck in the water too --- but it doesn't do anthing point wise.

Hugs

Hi Inferno I want to thank you for all the help you have given me It has been great fun. I have achieved 82% of the game and received 3,645 points. I am quite content.I am going to start from the begining and try and do it all over again. One thing (there is always one isnt there LOL) I got 74% of the stone circle, I didnt know where to put the round stone or the sqaure one as they are the only ones that move.
Super game, better than the previous ones.
Thanks again
Kind regards
Maggsie

Hi Maggsie

to get 100% at The Stone Circle, Harry must do the following:

Click to reveal..

  • Light the torch at the end of the Covered Bridge (cast Incendio)
  • In the center of the circle there is a "fern" plant. Cast Depulso on plant to find a Fred & George Parcel
  • Scare two crows by moving close to them
  • Move the rectangular stone by casting Windgardium Levios on it and move it to the largest Standling Pillar and then stand on it (it's the one to the left of the pillar that you are moving)
  • Examine tallest pillar where Hermione punched Draco in the "Prisoner of Azkaban" film. (Examine by pressing the ENTER key)
  • On the way to the Owlry there is another "fern" plant. Cast Depulso on th plant to find another Fred & George Parcel.
  • On the way to Hagrid's Hut there are two more crows to scare away.

To get the rest of the points have a look at the Marauder's Map
on the "location of Places" sid and tell me where you need the points. Also Press ESC key and have a look at the Game Information --- this will tell you which tasks and what part of which tasks you still need to accomplish.

Let me know.
