Doesn't mention adventure games specifically, but this article does describe a familiar trend -- older gamers realizing how much fun gaming can be. (Link may require registration.) A quote from the article: [quote]PopCap Games in Seattle, the maker of the diversions so popular at St. Mary, says its games have been downloaded more than 200 million times since the company was founded in 2000. A spokesman said that the company was stunned by results of a customer survey last year: 71 percent of its players were older than 40, 47 percent were older than 50, and 76 percent of PopCap players were women. It turns out that older users not only play video games more often than their younger counterparts but also spend more time playing per session. Pogo.com is a Web site that offers

Thank you for posting this article Becky. I wonder if the game makers and sellers will take this on board. Before I retired I loved adventure games because they helped to forget the tedium of work. Now they help to keep my brain alive! The only problem is arthritis in my fingers that makes timed problems a real problem. That said, I don't think your age should make any difference. I've been playing for over 10 years, The Dig was the first and the games just get better and better.
Has any one seen any little gray cells around as I think I've lost some? Reward for finder.

This thread is wonderful. I love folks who agree with me. I will be 75 next month and have loved my games since I joined Boomers in 2001. I swear it keeps my brain alive because it's hard for me to find folks I can converse with. Even though I have to use walkthroughs and hints, I can solve some puzzles and get a lot of practice following directions and concentrating. Long live Games and Gameboomers

What exactly are games like Zuma? I have always avoided games like that. I have no clue. Thanks for posting the article Becky. A fun read!

A very informative article Becky, thanks for bringing it to my attention. JB, Zuma is a "shoot 'em up" match three game of sorts. You get a string of objects and must shoot matches of 3 or more so they don't reach the exit. My favorite like this is Birds on a Wire! I love the sound effects. I'm no good at it but I love to keep trying. Linda
So many games, so little time.

JB, you can try out any of those games like Zuma (Luxor is another one) and other games like Jewel Quest (matching games) for free for one hour. In the past, I had wondered what people saw in these games, not ever having tried one myself. Or I thought maybe they were for people who weren't "serious" gamers. That may be true for some, but I'm here to tell you that since then I totally understand the appeal and have gotten hopelessly addicted to some of them myself. And they are GREAT for those times when you just want to sit and relax and play a game for a while but don't have the time or the energy to get into anything more lengthy. I've been playing them now on and off ever since I tried Luxor and Zuma for the first time. The only downside is that it opened up another whole area of game buying for me.

:-D That's cool Becky. I can't truly say I'm an old gamer though, heh. Grats to all of those who are, and good luck.
