Pre Game HintsNo you aren't stupid at all. Just because you don't have it in your inventory doesn't mean that you can't help the good Captain find something useful to use. Search every where again and find what you need. It's all there waiting for you to find it. Remember -- that this game is truly in the style of the old classics. Search carefully in all the nooks and crannys. Sometimes it wil be a pixel hunt -- sometimes not --- remember that things aren't always what they seem. --- sometimes it will be labled --- sometimes they won't be --- leave no stone unturned -- no staircase untrod -- no sides of walls untouched no matter how dark and slimy or what might be attached to them inferno

Chapter 3 --- Darkmere I'm all out of patience (or brains). Still stuck in Darkmere and can't do any more of the "try everything with everything". Any suggestions? That's because you still don't have what you need. Sometimes the best places to seek out are those little shops that sell bits and bobs to see what you might find to help the Captain. There was something quite interesting left at the What would Nancy Drew do to record this evidence? What would she need to accomplish it?

Thanks for the help Inferno, but if you're talking about the charcoal etching from the door I've done that, do I do something else with it? Or do you mean something else?

It led me to the Which I've been to see and he told me about the orders he received and how. then when leaving triggered the next victim, if I remember correctly. Let me see if i can clarify where i am without making it too complicated. I have the chain, the orb, the hay, the leather pouch and apron, the beggars stick, a pair of glasses, the key to the inn, chef's hat, cork, charcoal drawing, and of course the things i drug along from the last chapter and what the mayor gave me. I think I've tried everything on the locked doors to open them, but nothing works. Nothing in my inventory can be combined and there's no one left to talk to at any of the shops.

Chapter 3 --- Darkmere There may not be anyone left at the shops -- but that shouldn't stop the Captain from going back and doing some Sluething, now should it? What significanse might have for you? I would direct the Captain to revisit each of the places again -- as some doors will open when before they were not able to be opened to the Captain. It sounds as though the places you mentioned that you wish to get into are locked That is what you still need to find. Did you get hit with a snowball recently? You asked me earlier if was important... What do normally have that's dark and dreary and damp? Let's see scoundrels, scaliwags and smugglers ... What would you want to have at if you were one of these lost souls? If you needed a place to hide? inferno

Chapter 3 -- Darkmere I know that you have --- that wasn't what I was refering to. You still need to access the other places --- and you already have You've told me that you have gone everywhere you could. But you haven't. This is a section within a section --- or a place within a place. Quagmire said that he was going there after the Captain freed him. Oh you and the Captain have been in there already ... but one must learn to think as deviously as you can in order to find the access that you are searching for in there. Notice how your cursor changes while the Captain moves or exits from a building or area. Apply this same knowledge when you are searching for other accesses inferno

if those two things are all you have discovered, you need to direct the Captain to search much more. Tell me what new items you now have (under spoilers, please)since you began this level.

Dyl'smom use the reply form that gives you access to the smilies. I think the third icon from the right [looks like a megaphone] is the one you need to use for a spoiler. Sue

Hi all, I am not sure if I should start a new thread here or not because I am not nearly as far along in the game as you all seem to be. I am still in the dungeon apparently looking for snot and/or potent grog to make for Grunger. I have a pot and a flask.

... Hope I did that right.... Can anyone give me a nudge?

cool! Thanks Dyl's Mom!...another worry... was it ok that I burned the rope to drop the yakking prisoner causing him to be dimembered? This game is wonderfully Macabre so it kinda fits, but I have saved the game in case I have somehow sealed my fate negatively.
