I need some help. I am stuck in the adventure game, Dead Reefs. I am at the part where Finvanaro has gone to the estate after escaping from the tomb with the button from Paul's dead hand. He has spoken to the butler, who has informed him of the people who recently moved to the island. After that I went upstairs & tried to get into Edwards room, it tells me the door's locked. But according to the walkthrough I am supposed to be able to look at Edward's door (which I can't) & the game is supposed to say that a pin could open the door. Then I supposed to get a pin from the women who does the laundry. But when I go downstairs & talk to the women who does the laundry, there is no pin to pick up.
Please help.
Margie

Is the maid around at this time already?
Have you been inside this room earlier?

yes, after I try to the room & it's locked. I go downstairs, the butler is gone & the maid is in her room. I talk to the maid, but no pin anywhere.
I have been in the room much, much earlier in the game. I spoke with Edward when I went into the room.

margiesam,

Check this old thread. It might give some ideas to what you can do.

See if you can go through the balcony at the father's office then.

Hi MaG,
I went through all the threads and I tried again, because I have been into Edward's & the Baron's rooms before. I tried the balcony from the Baron's room & it was locked. I then went down to the maid & still no pin.
I noticed that you emailed a save to two people who encountered the exact same issue & weren't able to continue. Maybe, I need that save?

thank you

Thank you MaG. Your save is perfect. For some reason my game wouldn't do the same. Thanks again.

Hi MaG,
I just wanted to say thank you. When I looked through the note book from your save, I noticed there were several differences in the way we played and the places we visited & who we spoke with in what order. It obviously makes a difference in this game - which is unfortunate. I started the game again & went through everything like you did (as per the note book notes) and I was able to get the "eye" at Edward's door & able to get the comment about the pin.
Anyway, thanks again. I am able to continue on the game now.
Margie

Glad you got that straightened out.
I played using the previous clues and it just followed one after another. Have fun.

Whew! I'm glad I finally found this thread about Dead Reefs!! I've been stuck at Edward's door for a couple weeks now. I even restarted the game following the walkthrough, to no prevail. I still don't see the "Look" option at Edward's door.

Mag - I've sent you a pm with hopes of sneaking in on the game save you've sent others to fix this issue?? This is an annoying problem to a game that's had quite an interesting story up to this point!

Thank you in advance - hopefully!
Reed

Hi Reed,

No need to PM me. Better to post at the forum so that someone can answer you faster if I'm not around.
I sent you the saved game.

As for why it happens, it depends on the timing.
One, the maid should be there already.
All other talkies and actions should be done by now.
All items should be checked in the manor.
Then it will be later in the day and you can go on.

Another possibility is that you are not standing at the correct spot and not looking at the lock to get the correct dialogue.

Good luck and have fun. :christmas:

Thanks much! I am absolutely loving this game...I was pretty disappointed when I thought that there was a glitch to prevent me from playing it through.
