Does anyone know if there are cheats for this game? I don't usually use them, but I'm completely stalled on the Attack of the Fishmen. I've been trying for 3 days now.
Or does anyone have a save game just past this point?
I'm desperate!

Barb, sorry to say, but there are no cheats for the game. The only saves I have are near the end of the game where some players had a technical problem. It is a great game, very atmospheric and scary, but difficult at times. You are at the hardest part. Stick with it and you will get it eventually. There is a thread a few players created which may give you some help. I may be able to help at some points. How far did you get in the chase? Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth If you check the thread there is a patch mentioned. I didn't use it so don't know how much it helps. There are a couple features the patch offers which would help: 1) Change the walk speed to match the run speed. 2) Enable Dev Continue. This feature allows you to respawn in the spot where you died, with full health.

Thanks, Pokey. That Godmode patch sounds like what I need. I'll try to figure out how to use it.
I do like the game, but this part is driving me crazy! I have gotten to the part where I have to jump across to the other landing (the 2nd one, with the ladder), but I can't make the jump successfully. Jack is moving so slowly that he just falls to his death. I made it one time, but the bad guys got me before I could get up the ladder. Not being able to save where I want to is very frustrating!

I couldn't figure out how to use the patch, so I kept trying on the game, & lo & behold, I made it! Whew! I had to close & bolt all the doors to give me enough time. The game won't let you move the wardrobe in the second room until after the chase starts. The hardest part was after the first jump, getting through & closing the door & pushing the clock to block the door. I was surprised when I actually made the jump across the balcony & got up the ladder! I'm now at the part where I jump in the truck & crash into the sewer. I've gotten sliced & diced by the fan several times already!
I love this kind of game. Are the other Cthulhu games similar to this one? Thanks for your help, Pokey.

Hi Pokey, I've played Undying and Realms of the Haunting & loved them. I haven't played Chronicles of Riddick, the Thief games, or System Shock, but I'll definitely check them out. Do you consider all these games "action-adventure"? I'm always looking for something good to play! I play a lot of older games, but I do like great graphics & music. I love the Silent Hill games - have you played them? CoC reminds me a lot of them.

Hi Pokey,I would love to play Silent Hill 1, but it was never made for PC. As far as I know, Silent Hill 5 will only be for the XBox, too. It's very disappointing. If you liked SH2, I think you'd like SH3, also. When I first got SH4, I didn't like it, but after I got into it, I loved it.
Have you played Resident Evil? I'm thinking about trying it. I don't know whether to start with 1 or try the newer ones.

Hi Pokey, no, I haven't finished yet. I'm at the fish cannery place in Escape From Innsmouth. That was a wild ride in the truck! I'm doing ok, but my biggest problem is not enough ammo or med kits.
You ought to try SH3 - if you liked 2, you'll like 3. It is similar to SH2, but I think it's a little better. 4 is totally different, but I loved it.
I have a lot of Christmas money, so I'd love to go to a store that has all the games I want to try. I have to go to Kansas City to get games & most of the stores only have the newer games. I guess I could order them on-line, but it's more fun to go shopping!

I finished the Escape From Innsmouth & I'm now back at the warehouse with J. Edgar Hoover! This game is wild! I have Neverwinter Nights but haven't played it. I love RPGs, but I'm not crazy about 3rd-person games. Have you played Dark Messiah of Might & Magic? It's an action-RPG. It's a great game.

Hi Pokey, the Gothic games are some of my favorites! I didn't like 3 as much, mainly because of all the problems. I got so frustrated with the LONNGG load & save times! To me, Gothic 1 and 2 are examples of what an RPG should be! My favorite games are the two Vampire the Masquerade games.
I'm still in the warehouse with Hoover. He's kind of a stinker, isn't he?

Hey Barb, it sounds like you're enjoying COC. It's a tough game, but delightfully creepy. Glad you made it through Attack of the Fishbreath. Quite a few people have given up at that point.
Happy monster hunting.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hi Hagatha, I almost gave up at that point, too, but I kept trying because I was enjoying the game so much.

Well, I finally reached the point where I can't go on - the shoggoth. I did the first part where I got the fuse & I can get to the save point, and I can get through the door & run to the next door, but it's physically impossible for me to get to the next door, unbolt it, & get through. The main problem is that I can only use one hand. I can't switch to the mouse to turn him, then back to the forward key fast enough. Is there any way to get what I need past this point without going that way? I really hate to give up.

Thanks Pokey, I can find the save games, but I don't know how to use them! I really wish I could figure out how to use the godmode patch. That way I could see everything. I'm so dumb when it comes to technical stuff!

Thanks, Pokey. I'm still totally confused! I can find the site with the save games, but I don't see any way to tell where each save game is. I'd rather get the god mode patch so I can continue my game where I'm at, but I'm not having any luck getting it to work. Since I'm probably not going to be able to finish COC, I'm trying to get the Resident Evil games. How many are there? I want to start with 1, but apparently it's hard to find. I found one on e-bay, but he wants $89 for it! Would you look at this site & tell me if this is the first RE? http://www.cdaccess.com/html/pc/resevil.htmThanks a lot, Barb

Pokey, you're an angel! I will do that. I'll send you an e-mail first that you can reply to since I don't think I can send a file through Gameboomers. I got through the fishmen chase by doing it over & over. I did it so many times that I got so I could get through the rooms without thinking about it too much. Eventually I made it without any errors & got through. The part I'm stuck on is shorter, but I can hardly get to the 2nd door without being caught, let alone unbolting and opening the door! Jack is well and sane, but he doesn't move very fast. I ordered Resident Evil & I'm looking forward to playing it.
