I'm in the first 10 minutes of the game. Have just gottenthe ladder but I can't put it where it goes. And, also i never found the fish scale even though I found the second set of footprints. Can you help? Thanks

Betty the ladder needs to rest on the fence. Do you see the piece of material caught at the top? You should find a hotspot in that area for the ladder.
The fish scale will be where the footprints are in the back yard area. Just search slowly please.

Now I do have the fish scale and the ladder but I can't seem to locate the hotspot for the ladder to rest against the fence. Top or bottom? Do you have any ideas to help me locate this hot spot? Thanks. Betty

While on the inside backyard close to the footprint with fish scale - click on top of that fence. Holmes will say something and I think find something stuck on that top of the fence.
Then go outside to the other side of this fence where you got the ladder. The top of the fence will be active now and you can get what was stuck.

Sue, Thanks. I finally got through that part. Now I am in the warehouse. Have connected the cauldron and rope. But on the other side I'm not able to connect rope to door handle. Any hints? Thanks

Betty I think all I had to do was click on the end of the rope and then on the door handle to attach it.

I am having a problem with combining pipe and syring to make a blowpipe. Can you help? Thanks

Please use one thread per game. You can find your posting in My Place at top of page.

You have a 12, a 15 and an 18 mm in diameter syringes. You need a bit of space to place the syringe in the pipe. Take the 16 mm (or 40 pts) in diameter pipe.

Combine the sedative and the 15mm syringe. Then combine that 15mm syringe with sedative with the 16 mm pipe to get a blowpipe.

There are four pipes on the boxes. Can you tell me which pipe to pick uup and combine with which syringe? There are three different size syringes. I have tried each of the pipes on the syringes without success. Thanks. Betty

Measure the pipes Betty. I think there are calipers in the same room with the pipes. You want the 15mm syringe and a pipe just a tad larger to use as the blow pipe

Thanks. I finally realized that I was putting the sedative in the syringe.

I am in the second basement. Have disguised myself as Prof. Schwartz and talked to Wolfe. Have pushed unlit torch left of Gygax's office and also pusshed unlit torch across from Wolfe's cell. However, I have located an unlit torch kinda across from Gygax's office in the corridor but I cannot push. Can you help? thanks. Betty

You do not push the torch across Gygax for the third torch.
Go to the corridor by the torture room and push the unlit torch left of the door.

Where is the torture room. Is it wear bodies are dumped in a well? Thanks

I am in master bedroom of Arneson's house. Have picked up New Orleans Star clock puzzle. But now I am stuck as to what to do now in documents when you see picture and hand appears as if there is something to do here. Any ideas? Thanks. Betty

I think working out what numbers you need for this puzzle on a piece of paper will give you clues as to how numbers you need to open the safe Betty. I don't remember being alble to enter anything on the paper.
Has the safe opened for you yet? If not, go back and redo every hotspot in the house and outside that you can find. All the blood drops, footprints, muddy areas....literally everything. This game is horribly picky about evidence in certain areas and this is one of them.

Sue, I am really stuck with this stage of the game. I have redone everything, found the newspaper clipping. Looked at the numbers and studied them--to no avail. Why when you look at the newspaper clipping in the documents is there a hand for you to do something. Can you help? Thanks. Betty

The newspaper clock is just a clue to the safe.
You need to see the safe. It will be seen only when you have clicked on all the actuive items inside and outside the house; including the path towards the dock.
Only then will you get to see an auto scene of the safe being found by Watson.
Then use the clock clue in opening the safe.

I went back in the game as far as I could and started at that point with another game. I covered everything and this time the safe was there. Still don't know what I missed the first time. Now, I am trying to go back to port district. (I'm at the end of the pier) but Holmes says we still have to examine something. Would you know what that could be? As I've gone right by the guide. This game is somewhat frustrating. I do so appreciate your help. Betty

I think there is a rope hanging off the end of the pier Betty. Did you see a puddle of blood as you were walking down to the pier? It would have been on your right I believe.

I did see the blood, Holmes on it. At the pier I did see the rope and they comment that how to get to the swamp? UGH! Thanks anyway. Betty

Betty be sure that everything is done in the house.. that could be holding you up.
Did you meet and talk to Davy? Are he and his sister gone from the house?
Did Sherlock assume the blood was from Arneson when you found it by the path to the pier?
