There is always Siberia 1 & 2, Black Mirror, Longest Journey, the CSI games, The Sentinel, Voyage, Post Mortem, and Runaway just to name a few.

Hi jldcat- Those are all great games Joy. Most adventure games have some kind of puzzles. Riddle of the Sphinx was my favorite. I played it long before I discovered walk-throughs and hint boards. It took me three months to get through the game. I am presently playing Last Half of Darkness (Shadows of the Servants) and I wasn't sure that I would like a game that was goolish. I love the puzzles and hints the game gives. What kind of game do you prefer? First person - (Nancy Drew) (Safecracker) or Third person (Keepsake) ect. One of the best games that I have played this year was Barrow Hill. I know jldcat will agree because I know she played it. She has proably played every game that has ever been released. I on the other hand prefer first person point & click. Check out the reviews here on GameBoomers. You can also go to New Releases and get screen shots and a small introductions to almost all the games that are out right now. Have fun. Sandi

And some other puzzle games with no storyline to speak of try the Wonderland Stinky games (3) from Midnightsynergy.com and Elemental from dragonworksinteractive.com AND The Valhalla Classics from Vulcan Software Limited. These and Pandora's Box are excellent puzzle "head scratchers" Love, Betty Lou

Pandora's Box is ALL puzzles and loads of fun! Be sure to get the game of the year edition though, as that one will work on WinXP Gees is right, of course. Most adventure games have plenty of puzzles in them Jewels of the Oracle I & II, Safecracker, 7th Guest, 11th Hour, Schizm/Mysterious Journey, Riddle of the Sphinx, Omega Stone, Clandestiny, Chemicus, Physicus, Bioscopia, and Timelapse are particularly puzzle-centric. Also I remember someone mentioning one in a museum. Was that Shivers?

Yes!! That's what I was thinking too, Susan - Shivers 1... My favorites are Safecraker and Curse of Blackmoor Manor (Nancy Drew) - most of the Nancy Drew games contain a lot of puzzles
Everyone has a photographic memory...some just don't have film.

I'm with you Renee. Safecracker was fantastic. I have played all the Nancy Drew games and Curse of Blackmoor Manor was the best. It was filled with puzzles and sent chills up my spine. Message in the Haunted Masion was my first ND. The list of great games just goes on and on. I'm waiting for Pieces of Eight. I checked out the web site and it looks like something to get excited about. I found many of the older games where much better than some of the newer ones. But I have played some great ones in the past year. I think the puzzles are the best part of the games JOY and there's plenty out there. PS. I'm going to check out Pandora's Box. Thanks Sandi

You can't beat the early Myst games for puzzles -particularly Riven and Exile. Other older games are Obsidian, Drowned God, Cassandra Galleries, Entombed Enhanced, Chaos a Fantasy Adventure, Black Dahlia and Connections. Some newer games are Mysterious Journey 2, Sentinel and Aura. For pure puzzles try the Puzz3D series if you like jigsaws and the Mulawa games (Magnetic, Xiama).

I love Pandora's Box, I played it four times! I definitely recommend it. I just finished Orient Express and it was very very good. It is more adventure than puzzle though. There is a game called Xiama that is total puzzles that you might like. http://www.mulawa.net/xiama/index.html

As far as I am concerned, you can't beat the Myst games. period I just felt they were more immersive/story-centric & I was trying to list ones that I enjoyed but felt more like going from puzzle to puzzle KWIM? Half of Riven's & Myst's puzzles felt so natural to 'being there.' Mind you, the other half really made up the difference I still haven't played it yet (

For an adventure game that has plenty of puzzles and an interesting story to go with them try Echo, Secrets of the Lost Cavern. It is a first person game, played without a hitch in Win XP, nice graphics, good voice acting (something I usually don't pay much attention to, but in this case I was definitely impressed by it) and quite unique puzzles. They were good, but personally I do not care for puzzles as I prefer third person running around (and around!) grabbing up inventory along the way to use in often unheard of ways (I'm not interested in logic) and not staying in one spot immersed in a puzzle. Myst is my idea of torture!
To love is to be happy with!
