The czech Future Games, developers of famous games as The Black Mirror,Nibiru and Next Life (Reprobates in Europe)announces that their latest game, A Tale of a Hero, is finished and ready to be published! Basic info
* point and click adventure featuring non-traditional hero who embarks on a traditional quest * rich storyline full of twists and interesting characters * nonlinear puzzle solving * 110 prerendered screens in 1024x768 brought alive by countless animations * 3D characters * 100+ pages of branched dialogues with higly original characters * professional voiceovers * great sound effects bringing locations alive * original soundtrack * no dying, no slider-puzzles to solve, no action sequences * game made by adventure lovers for adventure lovers
The Story: World of Aldiara is a magic and dangerous place where people are just one of many intelligent species inhabiting its vast region full of forgotten mysteries. It is a place where heroism is a respected profession since people still need strong arms, a clever head and a brave heart to protect them from bloodthirsty Titans, magical animals and spawns of black magic.
The story we want to tell you is about a young man who follows in his father's footsteps in order to find his own way, a way to be a hero without having to kill intelligent creatures, creatures who seem evil and unfriendly but in reality just live the way they were created to, protecting things they believe in just as men do.
Olaf was born a son of Halvard, the famous knight and hero, the lord of Eagle Mountains. At the age of seven his family lost its fortune and was banished from Greoden Kingdom after Halvard refused to lead armies into needless war dictated by King's pride.
The first years in exile were hard. Halvard built a cottage on the lake front with his own hands and tried to earn his living as a fisherman. Olaf's mother soon succumbed to a fatal illness and the aging knight brought up the boy on his own. Besides the hero's craft, he taught him to be a good, reliable and respected man whom people would gladly address and trust with their problems.
When Olaf turned twenty, Halvard died. Olaf inherited his father's knowledge and experience in dragon-slaying, but he also inherited many of his old enemies, both humans and Titans. One of them is the ice giant Krugell who wakes up from a age-old sleep to find out about the death of his brother Arioch. Arioch died by Halvard's sword while the knight was still in the King's service and the merciless Titan wants to take revenge on both King's and Olaf's family.
It is up to Olaf to decide whether he'll run and hide before the enemy or whether he'll strike the first blow and settle accounts with Krugell on his own ground. Little does he know that his conflict with the giant is just an episode in a story which began hundreds of years before he was born...
Olaf's adventure takes us to dark caves, swamps with deadly fumes, ruins of an ancient city, blue deep of the ocean and icy planes of far north. Before Olaf meets his main enemy, he will uncover many secrets of the world around him and deeply influence the lives of a number of both fantastic and quite ordinary creatures and beings he meets along the way. One of the secrets he discovers is the least important for the world but the most important one for him - what a man really is and where his place in life is... You can download an English demo HERE (Edited out - see below) See some screenshots and some sample music HERE. We'll keep you posted! Updated: The demo link was sent to me from one of the developers, but unfortunately another developer wants the demo out. We decided to comply with his wishes and remove the demo link. Sorry about that!

Thanks Carla, what is meant by "last game"? Are they quitting? I do hope they find a publisher soon....seems a shame for a finished product to have to wait. Ana

Oops Ana, I do apologize...I meant "latest" not "last" ! Have you played the demo? It's really appealing, I wish them to find a publisher soon, because I want to carry on playing this game! And I love when they say * no dying, no slider-puzzles to solve, no action sequences * game made by adventure lovers for adventure lovers

I'm glad to hear that Carla. I was worried they were done and that would mean no Black Mirror 2. I do not play demos, so no I didn't. I'll wait for screenshots. Ana

Unfortunately they are not that ones developing Black Mirror 2, DTP appointed King Art Games for that. But they have another game in progress, for which I'm awaiting more details, called Alter Ego, which is "a dark adventure game like Black Mirror", and of which you can see the very first screenshot HERE.

Hello, I am one of the developers (project leader) of Tale of a Hero and have to admit, that it came to me as a suprise that demo was released public The reason that there are no voiceovers in demo is because english voiceovers weren´t recorded yet. I hope it won´t spoil gameplay of demo for you and you will like it.

Thanks Darleen for your welcoming and for your kind words. I am glad that you like our little baby (as it is the first game our team developed so far) and hope it will be released sometime soon so you will have opportunity to explore world of ToH further If any of you have some troubles to finish this demo, please let me know, I will gladly provide you with hints (or walktrough)

Hi Tol and welcom to Gameboomers! It's always great to have developers here. The demo link was provided to me from your office, and I'm happy they did it because it's such a nice game, even without any speech. Hope you find a publisher very soon!

Hi, thank you This double click on exit were implemented in many games before, including other games from Future Games. What we have implemented new is that you can enter closeups with double click as well, since you have visited that closeup at least once. Another addition to interface, which I am particulary proud of, is something we call "dummy" or "surrogate" items in inventory- that is item that Olaf won´t put in his bag, because it is too big for it. Instead he remeberes where the item lays and go back for it when he really need it. You will see this with ladder in case of this demo for example Sorry if that all sound just like marketing babble, I am just exited that people already play this apart from betatesters
