At least, I think that is what is keeping me from advancing in the game. I think I need to get the light bulb for that dark room in Jason's house. I have ordered it by putting the order in the mailbox but still don't have it. I keep checking the mailbox and all the rooms (even the barbecue pit in the backyard) but no light bulb appears anywhere. On the other hand maybe that is not what I need as there are also other clues as to what to do next, like see the doctor about Jason's special abilities and deliver Sydelle's letter. Unfortunately, the doctor in never in and I've been to his office several times now. Also, I think Jason is supposed to get a drink for the receptionist, but he can't get it from the bartender because he isn't 21 yet and Nadine (I think that is her name) won't help him even though he asks so nicely. Then there is also the conference/hypnosis room where Jason needs a longer cord, right? I know about the message in the attic too. Since I'm stuck, I'm thinking I need to get something from that dark room! Or do I already have it in inventory and don't know it? I have 11 items and none seem helpful to me. As you can see I am trying very hard to avoid the walkthrough!

Hi dragonuk44, Yep, I returned the book to the library, got a new book for Curtis and he helped me with the desk in the attic. That was fun, although the message on the desk is sort of scary! Hi misslilo, I no longer have the light-bulb thought as I think I used it to make out an order for a light bulb and then placed the order in the mailbox outside. I keep checking the mailbox to see if it has a light bulb, but nothing so far. Last, but not least, Hi chrissie, I keep trying thoughts on people but they don't seem to be interested in talking to me. The bartender is there to serve drinks and says he doesn't care to hear about my problems. Jason can't talk to any of the security guards, he even tried talking to a tree <grin> and no help there either. Sydelle and Curtis are no longer in their rooms. I have tried combining thoughts, but unless I missed the right one, no luck there. I don't recall combining thoughts with inventory though so guess I will try that. Thanks everybody!

Hi LindaMarion, I've been putting thoughts just about everywhere, have just finished putting them on the inventory, nothing happened. Yes, I have been to Mr. Hungerton's house many times, no answer when I knock on the door and nobody is in the patio when I go back there. The first time there was a small boy playing with a truck and I talked to him. He left though and now only the security guard is there. Yes, I've been in the kitchen at DITR and picked up something I think, like was it the hankie or the bread (the last 2 items in my inventory) or both? Speaking of the bread I have tried to put it on the birdhouse by the barbecue pit in back of Jason's house, but Jason says something like not to waste time doing that. I have seen Sydelle next to Anthony and tried talking to them, exchanged a few words with her, none with him. I have been to the warehouse and tried to go through the back door but the worker won't let me go there. Tried talking to him but get nowhere. What am I doing wrong? Or what am I missing? Should I go take a peek at the walkthrough? Am I being stubborn or stupid?

Have you tried combining some of the Thoughts that may be related?
If the answer is yes, then perhaps one of these new thoughts can help you talk to a particular character who hasn't wanted to talk to you yet.

LindaMarion, thanks very much for your help here. One request--when you are going to make a second post, and no-one else has posted after your first one, (as happened just above here) would you please just use the "edit" function to add to your first post, rather than starting a new one? That helps us with our constant bandwidth problems. Hi Alkis, good to see you--it's exciting to see your game finished...

No, I certainly didn't do that. I just left, especially as she didn't seem to want to talk to Jason at that time. I never gave the thoughts a thought. Better do that now! Thanks a heap.
Wow, that was a great hint! I tried all the thoughts on Sydelle and got a lot of answers. Some I already knew, but then came the news about Robert being Henry's friend and that has me on my way again. I'm supposed to meet Henry down at the pavilion, I just hope he shows up. Or does something happen to him?

I got Henry to open his door and talked to him and he said he would meet me at the pavilion, but when I go there, Henry doesn't show up. Is there another pavilion besides the one west of the town square? I keep walking around trying to talk to people with the thought inventory but none have changed their minds about talking to me. I reread the manual and discovered I could use the scroll wheel to go from one thought to the next. Sure beat going back to the thought screen every time, which is what I had been doing. I also keep checking out the pavilion in case Henry finally shows up, but no, not so far, and I don't think he ever will, so what do I do now? Jason has already talked to the doctor and been hypnotized to use his special abilities. Tried giving Sydelle's report to the doctor, but Jason decided he wanted to hang on to the report so that is still in inventory. Actually, at the present time I don't see enything in the inventory to help me. I keep thinking somewhere along the line I will want to combine the chlorine and ammonia detergents, but when, where, or even why, I don't know.

There is one only pavilion were you said it was and not more. henry will come but only if you have done some things, many youve done for surely but have you- Given the report of Syd to Dr. Brown and have you had hypnosis with him?
but I did not read all.see you done those 2 things I mentioned. \Maybe what Chrissie wrote? But I wonder if you could go to the dr and give him syd report if you did not read it first. I dont know

Hi dragonuk44, yes, I have been to the bar and talked with Nadine and she is now in her room amd I've talked with her there too. I asked her to help me get a drink but she won't do it. I have gone back to the bar and tried to get the glass which has part of a drink left in it, but Jason won't take it. He isn't the kleptomaniac that I am! Hi gaily, yes, since Jason won't give the report to the doctor I am sure he has another use for it, but I haven't figured that out as yet. Hi chrissie, I have tried to be nosy and open that report but I guess I didn't do it right. I didn't think of using the thoughts, maybe I'm feeble-minded? Not really, but I am being slow at using the thought inventory. I just found out today about using the scroll wheel with the thoughts and that is a big help! I had read the manual as I had printed it out, but somehow I missed that fact the first time.

I didnt realise that So chrissie is probably very good and you must read her report first. Do not despair henry will arrive when you have done all you need.

Sorry if I was too cryptic, Sierramindy...I never know how specific to be on these threads. Once you read it you can give it to the doc.

You did just fine, gaily, and so did all my great helpers. I'm back on track for now. I even finally got the light bulb! I'm up to 90 points now so I still have a long way to go, but as long as I make some progress, even though slowly, I'm happy. Thanks, everybody, you all did great and gave me just the right amount of help and not too much. Also made me think a lot more than with a walkthrough and yes, that is better! This is more like the good old days before walkthroughs, although CompuServe did have a Gamers Forum back then where gamers talked about their problems. Tom, my husband, had the modem and went there a lot, and I used to think it would be nice to belong to a gamers forum and now I do.
