Still playing Lost: Via Domus, still not liking it much. However, I have progressed to episode 5 and have already grabbed the dynamite *yay* Now I have encountered a severe problem: How do I evade that black smoke when not allowed to run? Is there a trick? It's pretty difficult for me to find my way around in the jungle and reach the next trees quickly enough without exploding/getting caught by the black smoke. I just don't have the nerves to try this over and over again. I have a feeling it's just there to lengthen the game but since there are walkthroughs out there, some people must have gotten past this section. The question is: how? So far, I managed to escape Smokie by running very fast (or at least as fast as my computer would allow me) but it's not working with this sequence. Please help; I've gotten so far, I don't want to quit now - there's still that review I have to write grin

Sit tight Jehane and hopefully a member that has played this game will be able to assist you. I'm not familiar with it at all.
Good luck with the review!

Thanks smile
I've just watched a video walkthrough of this specific section and the guy didn't encounter the black smoke at all!! He must have taken a detour or maybe he's just really good at finding his way around but... he was through in no time at all and also had the time for picking up items. Now I'm completely demotivated sad

Oh come on Jehane, you never know when you will be the guru that we turn to for this game. You can do it!
Maybe he already knew the "ins and outs" of the game?

I know *how* to do it, I just can't do it smile But I have a sneaking suspicion... dragonuk44, did you already have the gun when you went to search for the dynamite or did you trade for the gun *afterwards*, i.e. after evading the monster a second time and before going back to the locked door to blow it up?

Because I *think* the way the guy on the video walkthrough managed to get through the second time without even encountering the monster has something to do with the gun. See, I think it's like this: When you already have the gun, you can a) shoot the Others and b) there's no smoke monster on the way back to the hatch. If you don't have the gun and trade for it later, the way back to the hatch becomes a lot more difficult because there's Smokie coming after you.

I don't know if this is true; it's just a suspicion I have. All walkthroughs I've consulted mention the smoke monster on the way back to the hatch - they also trade for the gun later in the game. Walkthroughs that mention trading for the gun *before* going for the dynamite don't mention the monster on the way back and give no hints whatsoever on how to evade it think Hm. If this proves to be correct, this might be the best reason ever to re-start this episode.

Yes I had the gun didn t get a single shot in .What could you shoot at .You heard him .Guess if you had been good could have sneaked up behind him .I just hid in the banion trees as I went .Took me quite a while and I got a bit fed up of going through the same thing.
Click to reveal..
You need the gun near the end so don t trade it
Click to reveal..
You cant shoot the smoke either
I also used the markers the flags as a guide .Keep doing it you will know that forrest like the back of your hand

I did use the flags as markers on my way back but somehow, I kept running in circles, ending up at the place I started out *argh* Just when I though I had done it... are the flags working as markers on the way back? I thought they kept pointing me in the direction where i started...

If I cannot do this on my own, could someone please, please, please provide me with a savegame just after this section? I usually don't resort to savegames but in this case, I'm willing to make an exception. I've already spent so much time on this game, I'm not willing to waste any more. I want to move on to games that are more fun frown
