Hi,

Please limit the discussion to the game and not external to the game. It might be best that you continue your discussion about this in emails to each other. I have not played the game and sounds like I won't from your descrips but I believe that the above postings are outside the realm of the game.

I think you all have read the parts you have discussed. Please note them since I will delete the non-game political discussion in 10 minutes. Thank you.

Hi Mag, you can delete the posts you think are not relevant. Unfortunately it is difficult to limit the political discussion as it stems from the game´s ending. But I have nothing more to say about that anyway smile Why won´t you play the game?

Oh ok Mag...I thought we scared you off with our discussion LOL I am not much for political games either but to be fair and honest DITR is not at all political throughout...it just has a 15-18 min surprise ending that´s all.

your absolute right jedivalius.
There is not a single bit of politics in game.
half other games have baddies who want to rule the world or conquer world or sometimes destroy world.
in DITR the same but you dont know what there trying to do.
Only in the last 20 minutes of the game do you learn what nasty they plan to do.
It is not political eithr- just nasty nasty and
Click to reveal..
like all adventure games they are defeated in there dastardly plans.

The difference is that its up to date and realisti not theory fiction

absolutely no reason why anybody at all should not want to play and what some have written should not put them off a very good game

MaG,

First: I will respect your decision.

but allow me to dissagree completely with all your points (about the discussion and about the political nature of the game, which is almost non existant, and about not wanting to play the game for any reason mentioned in this thread.

Also, allow me to say, that no matter how off topic this is going, you publicly edited out my posts (which you have a right) and mentioned something about my posts, as well as Jedis. I think I have a right to a public reply to this and not a PM (which would be another option).

1. DiTR is far from a political game, apart from the ending where the true nature of the company DiTR is revealed. And alkis epilogue maybe.

2. DiTR was bound to bring such discussion. It's only natural, since it is rather unique to the theme it touches.

3. I'm sorry to say but it's poor judgement about a game if you base your criteria on a discussion about the ending of the game. Maybe you have misinterpreted something?

Since this is a thread about the ending, with the words "spoiler" in capital letters in the subject of the thread. since you read the spoilers, you probably know about the nature of DiTR:

Click to reveal..
Since you know that DiTR is in fact a racist company, which none of the creators of the game, or the rest of the team as far as I know applauses the least, quite the contrary, and it is a theme that has never been met in a game before according to what I know, why is it so difficult to allow a thread, a living organism pretty much to evolve to what the game is about. Because apart from being a nice experience, some happy and pleasured hours in front of a computer and a labour of love from alkis, it is also a comment. And it is a political comment. Note that this comment takes place in the last 20 minutes of the game and not before hand! I do think that Alkis is trying to say something with this game, so why not allow the discussion to go that way? In the end of things It's not tetris we're talking about, but DiTR which reveals in the end to involve a company of racist nature and some real life research by Alkis, as he mentions in the epilogue.

I find it quite natural.

Regardless of that I won't discuss anything else, unless the verdict changes!

Do keep in mind, however, that I did start this thread, personally, pretty much with this in mind, as I consider it a serious subject and gameboomers is populated by mature people who can discuss such matters. Without being allowed to discuss this matters, there's non need for this thread really. All one can say is "wow! nice ending!", or "Wow1 I didn't expect that. I waited for the x to be nnn and so on". or whatever...

Please reread my post - I did not delete any reference to the game. I deleted non-game political discussion. Please be clear about that.

No matter what the game's ending is: still that discussion should be limited to that ending and not the situation of present racism and politics in different countries at present.

No I have not misinterpreted something. As stated - personal preference is my reason.

You stated that you purposely started the thread with that in mind rather than the quality of the game, the graphics, the puzzles, the music, the flawlessness - then I agree with you as you stated: there's non need for this thread really.

It does show that you deemed that the discussion of the game to lead to the breaking of the rules of GameBoomers.

Hi Mag,

this is a tricky situation as the very ending of the game and the after-ending comments do specifically refer to the present situations and the different views about the subject, hence the discussion about it. Moreover this thread was started as a commentary to DITR´s ENDING specifically I think if I am not mistaken...I read as much in another DITR thread where Alkis asked whether a thread could be created to discuss the ending. I think this discussion is not more off topic than say a discussion about Mary Magdalene and Jesus (religion) would be in a GK3 discussion thread hehe. The very nature of the game´s ending prompts this type of discussion, but I also understand the forum´s wishes to limit the discussion to the game itself. In this case it is a very thin line...and I respect your wish to draw the link where you see it goes too much off topic.

Hi jedi --

GameBoomers is a place where we've found that discussing religion and politics is tricky enough that we simply avoid these topics. This would include avoiding a "he he" discussion of Mary Magdalene and Jesus.

There are other forums where you can talk about such controversial issues in a game -- Just Adventure has just such a forum.

EDIT: Since posting this, I've learned that Just Adventure no longer has a forum where issues like politics and religion can be discussed.

We have a huge variety of gamers from all over the world, and many have political and religious sensibilities that can be wounded and they don't always speak up for themselves. We try to be proactive in keeping anything out that might offend those with various religious and political beliefs.

I hope everybody understands and helps us keep the forums friendly, nonpolitical and well, noncombative.

Hi Becky,

my hehe comment was not about the Mary Magdalene thematic but about the fact that games with large thematic lend themselves to wide discussions that sometimes go beyond the game. And if somebody has political or religious sensibilites that can be wounded, I think DITR is not a game for them or a game they would approach at all. I believe anyone who even enters the DITR ending discussion forum knows very well what will be discussed and the sensitivity of the thematic. Moreover our discussion was not combative at all so no harm done there smile My point was simply that some games ( and they are very few indeed) would be hard to discuss without dealing with the thematic. I think that to avoid any further discussion, you will have to close this specific thread as it is not the posters who are off topic but it is the very game which deals with a specific sensitive thematic. My two cents anyway smile I´ll leave it to you to deal with this in the way you deem most appropriate. And thanks for the mention about the Just Adventure forum which I think Alkis and Nickolas might find interesting as they can start a new thread there if they so wish.
