New episodic series for PC and Wii coming in June from Telltale Telltale, Inc., in partnership with Videlectrix will be releasing a series of episodic games for WiiWare™ and PC. The series is based on Matt and Mike Chapman's online animated series featuring Strong Bad -- email correspondent extraordinaire and the self-proclaimed coolest person ever. As the very first episodic series for connected consoles, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People has been designed specifically for WiiWare, with easy-to-use controls and WiiConnect24™ features. Like Telltale's popular Sam & Max series, SBCG4AP will be released as a five-episode "season" akin to a season of television. The episodes will come out on a monthly schedule. Release dates and pricing details will be revealed in a future announcement. If you haven't yet made the acquaintance of Strong Bad and his friends, you can visit the Homestarrunner.com website and watch Strong Bad at his computer here. (Warning: the language is occasionally salty.) You can also visit the Strong Bad page at Telltale here. (I recommend the Strong Bad Gameways "safety video" -- link on the right of the screen.) Telltale is working closely with the Chapmans on the series' art style, storylines, and scripts. This hands-on collaboration will deliver long-time fans the ultimate Strong Bad experience and give new players a crash course in the series' offbeat and unusual humor.
The episodes play like extended cartoons, during which the player assumes the role of Strong Bad—controlling his actions, hearing his innermost thoughts, and becoming part of his awesome world...[It's] a story-driven series with a comic spin that's undeniably Strong Bad.
The player uncovers each episode's comedic plot through character interaction, dialogue-based puzzles, and the use (and abuse) of inventory items. In addition, each episode will be crammed with time-wasters to keep players poking around in the world, including Strong Bad emails to check, prank phone calls to place, and mini-games styled after the arcade games on the Homestarrunner.com website. You can learn more about Mike and Matt Chapman (and their flashware retro-adventure, Peasant's Quest) in an interview at Adventure Gamers here.

Take a look at Strong Bad, Jenny. You won't need to dress up to meet him. Though he does look rather fetching in the Steward's costume in the Gameways video.

Becky, I wonder how much of the game falls into this category--"each episode will be crammed with time-wasters."

I wonder how much of the game falls into this category--"each episode will be crammed with time-wasters." Like in Sam & Max, there will be lots of stuff to click on and get funny responses to. There are also some side quests and optional, "just for fun" activities, like the ability to make your own Teen Girl Squad comics using comic panels you find hidden around the world, and arcade-style "micro games" in the style of the little games on the Homestarrunner.com website. All that being said, the game is definitely an adventure game, with uncovering the story (via character interaction, inventory puzzles, etc.) the most prominent gameplay. Here are a couple of previews that give a taste of the gameplay: 1UP videoKotaku write-up of demoThere will probably be more posted next week based on impressions from the Nintendo media summit, where the game was shown to press yesterday. (I was there demoing the game, and people were *really* excited about it -- both about the fact that it's a point & click adventure based on Strong Bad, and that it's coming to the Wii!)

When I saw the topic, I asked myself....Self, that wouldn't be Homestar Runner's Strong Bad, would it? (on the other hand, how many Strong Bads could there be?) I've long been a fan....In fact I have my very own "The Cheat" which is nice to kick around the house and entertain the cats with. This should be fun on a Wii. and he kinda looks like this guy.....(not impossibly attractive as you might fear.)

I just clicked on some of the links and had a great time reminding myself how funny Strong Bad is. His emails "Dragon" and "Sisters" still make me laugh out loud. JennyP - That's Strong Bad checking his email. Click on one of the emails and see what he has to say. Strong Bad humor is not for everyone. Most of the people I know who like him have a quirky sense of humor and a very strong appreciation of random silliness. My father, sister, brother and I will laugh ourselves silly at his emails while my mother just stands there shaking her head and saying that we're all weird. We are. That's why we like Strong Bad.

I agree Celtic, I have a twisted sense of humor too. I've been reading the emails and chuckling. I am curious to play the game, it sounds like it'll be great for the off season of Sam & Max. Ana
