I'd like to ask about Gamegiveaway. What is it? Obviously they give free games away but how do they do that? Is there a catch? Adware? Spyware?

I've watched the threads about the games they give away and am really curious.

This is a great give away. I watch the site all the time and have gotten many great games.
Today's particuliar game is 500 MB, so if you want it, start early to get it downloaded and installed in the time that's left. Someone on their site recommended a week's worth of download time and just 24 hours of actual "activation" time. Hope they do this on the next large file giveaway... I'm only 92 MB out of 500....
I have never had a problem with this site.... everything I have downloaded has worked fine, although they do sport a disclaimer that they will not give technical support for any of the games (if your puter crashes and you lose everything, don't expect a free install). Don't forget to look at their other giveaway page... everyday a new software is being given away... some good some bad, but always something for someone.
If I am interested in the game I click on "download" which takes you to another page of comments by everyone who has already downloaded it that morning.... great "thumbs up/down" counter for ppl to vote on....

Whoa! That is an AWESOME giveaway today. I already have the game though. I encourage folks to leave comments about the game because that site is rife with negative comments.



The problem is that people vote thumbs down without even trying a game. You will have many people vote thumbs down if they don't like the genre and not even bother downloading the game, so the results can be skewed quite easily. I wish they would implement the +/- on whether someone's comment was useful/helpful like they do on the main site.

Back on topic. If you get get East Side Story, get it! It's a wonderful game.

Well I have 10Mg cable connection and it says I have 3 hrs and 49 minutes to go and I am at 6%. Would not want to be on dial-up!!!!

misa, I sooooo agree about the voting.... I was mostly pointing out that it was there. People will vote down a game because it's not their genre, or in this case because it takes so long to download...as noted in this little snippet
"my allowable download limit which is 375 MB per 24 hours. If we go over that, we are restricted on downloading anything for 24 hours which wreaks havoc on e-mail and web browsing. If you happen to work from home and violate the limit, you don’t work for a day."
I personally have DSL and it took over 2 hours. so I took a nap LOL

I am having a problem getting the download to work- first time- it said file corrupted now I can't get the page for the download or the mirror site to open-- anyone else haveing that problem?

Just checked the Forum-- the links are down and has been for awhile-- hope they get it fixed today

I had the same problem ... was downloading for 3 hours with just under and hour to go when the file terminated abruptly. grrrr. Link still down.

Marcia, it's definitely disheartening reading some of the comments that are totally unrelated to the game!

Winfrey, hopefully they will extend the giveaway for another day because of the problems with the server it's on.

It's *such* a great game. I am a big fan of all the games by MDNA.

Thx for the heads up. I, too was having trouble and I hope they get it fixed as this is a great deal. I have the other three games which I gladly paid full for as they are all fabulous games.

Oh My! I think the server got overwhelmed by Boomers!
It's a small price to pay for a good free game though. Hang in there, guys.

At first I couldn't get the game to work from the window that showed up after the download, so I closed everything and went to the folder I had the game downloaded to, opened the folder, clicked on the game and then "extract all files" and all the installing went fine. The game opened for me and I had a look around... nice, it's summer lol. GL on getting this game to work

UPDATE: Game Giveaway project team just made an announcement that the download server problems they were experiencing have been fixed.

I've been d/ling for a few hours and am at 66%. Just hope I don't have the same problem as darleen when I'm done!

Well I spent 4 hours downloading and the file was crupt Went back there later and downloaded the game manager and had the game downloaded in about an hour and it is up and running!!!!

what do you mean- downloaded the game manager- I am at 96 hoping it will work been running since 1:20
