Glozza, on 4/11 Misa gave the following advice:
Are you playing with a patched game? If so, the recording doesn't happy over the effigy. It happens at the rood screen where there are names of former vicars. You need to use the videocamera on that screen to see a name, then try using your EMF meter and your sound recorder. Can't remember if I had to take a photo of that but try that too.
Unfortunately, that is misleading advice, and I already pointed that out in the thread it was taken from. Whether or not you can get a voice recording off the large wall plaque above Gurney's statue has nothing to do with whether or not your game is patched. I played with the patch from the start.
Here is the corresponding section from my
Lost Crown walkthrough at Quandary:
"Then work your way into the church until you come to a partitioned-off area. Examine the partition, and you get a close-up of some records with names of the former rectors and vicars that are interred here. You can obtain a
rood screen voice recording here. Then use your camcorder on the names, and you acquire a new clue: the name
Thomas Ager stands out among the rest. Then enter the partitioned-off area (which turns out to be the church's sanctuary). Among other things, it contains a tomb with a statue on it. You can get a
Sanctuary voice recording off the large wall plaque above the tomb. The voice in it quite clearly says: "Ager, Ager... he took my hands." Yikes! Examine the statue next, and Nigel notes that it indeed has no hands. Pull out of the close-up and use your camcorder on the statue. Nigel spots some 'orb activity'. Perhaps this place will be even better to visit at night though?"
So... Glozza is probably just not pointing the dictaphone at the right place to get the Sanctuary voice recording. Simple as that.
Edit: oops. Our posts collided. Glozza is sorted out, so all is well.
Good luck with it,
