Hi all! I am new here and looking for a new SH game. I bought the latest one only to find out that it is a first person interactive. I know this is silly, but I get motion sickness from doing the first person interactive (where you are actually looking through the eyes of the character - turning to the right causes the character to sweep to the right in a fluid motion that makes me queasy!)

So, that leads me to my question...is Nemesis a first person interactive? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on another game of this type that is not?

Thanks so much!
Marie

Osburn, I'm thinking Yes it is. You can always check it out in the Review found in the Reviews forum. That type of info is always in there. wave

Hi Osburn, welcome to GameBoomers!

Yes, Nemesis has the same interface as The Awakened: first person with 360 deg. panning, and controlled via keyboard and mouse.

If you post over in Discussions we'll be happy to recommend other games you could try with different interfaces and which won't make you queasy. smile

Osburn, here are a few detective-type games I'd recommend which don't feature 360 deg. panning:

Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Silver Earring
The Agatha Christie series: And Then There Were None; Murder on the Orient Express; Evil Under the Sun
The Nancy Drew series of games
The Lost Crown
Secret Files: Tunguska
Still Life

I get motion sickness, too, when playing games in the first person perspective - just like Sherlock Holmes Nemesis. However, I have found that when I lower the mouse sensitiviy to near zero, a noth just above zero, I can play the game. I found this out by going to the one of the SH games' official websites.

It also helps to sit in a well lit room, not play too long and take frequent breaks.

If you want suggestions for other games, well, then, there's:

Culpa Innata
Belief and Betrayal
The Agatha Christie games
Overclocked
Destination: Treasure Island
Jack Keane

and Agon 1-3 as well as Agon 4: The Lost Sword of Toledo

These are some of the newer games.

I can play Agon 1-3 as well as Agon 4 without getting motion sickness even if these games are played from a first person perspective, too. Why this is, I don't know...

Adventure gaming is fun smile

Destination: Treasure Island and the AGON games are first person, but are node-based and do not use real time 3D movement the way Sherlock Awakened and Nemesis do. Being able to pan (rotate) and being able to move through space aren't the same thing. Some people are bothered by one but not the other.

To clarify, the above list of games are all Third Person view except the Nancy Drew series. All Nancy Drew series are First Person view games.

As pointed out by Jenny, Destination: Treasure Island and the Agon series are First Person view games.

Don't you wish the box would say "First Person" or "Third Person"?. If I can buy movies that will say if it is full screen or widescreen, perhaps games publishers would appreciate that some people don't play first person view games.

A lot of people get sick. I get sick too and I don't buy first person view games.

There are four Sherlock Holmes games by Frogwares including Sherlock Holmes Nemesis. Of the four, only one is third person view. This third person view Sherlock Holmes game is Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Silver Earring.

Currently, there is a 3-in-1 DVD Sherlock Holmes game selling for $38.98 at Walmart. The 3 games are Case of the Silver Earring, The Awakened and Mystery of the Mummy.

As suggested by Rushes, you can try Agatha Christie series, Secret Files: Tunguska and also Nibiru. As for Still Life, you may note that there is a jewel case version selling for $9.99.

Also, you may wish to note that Frogwares is developing a Third Person view of Sherlock Holmes Nemesis.

Actually, I was complaining about the same thing about Sherlock Holmes Nemesis. First person view and I get sick. Someone in this board (can't remember who) told me that Frogwares is working on a Third Person version. I'm waiting for that version to appear on the store shelves.
